Craig Q Chee and Sarah Jo are unveiling their new string sets. Wonderful demo that gives you a true comparison between two Tenor Bari sets (some of us change our tenor strings to these Bari tenor so we can play Bari on a smaller scale, fret boards, body, etc. I have Sarah’s High D Reentrant set on my 13th Anniversary Edition Coral Red Kala customized Electric by Mike Jim from Uke Republic) and then on the regular gcea strings they have the new low G which gives that warm tone and is awesome for finger style picking. Check out the demo and if you have any questions I or any of our experts can answer as well as directly sending questions to Craig and Sarah!

I plan to post regularly on this page and then share to my other groups that I admin.
Going forward I will add a tip jar. No one needs to tip, but if any do , it will take me one step closer to doing all of this full time for you!! I'm excited and am also looking into patreon and other platforms that would allow me to pursue creative endeavors that I can share with you all. So, going forward, if you like, love, appreciate my work and content, and it's in your budget, please drop me a tip. It'll go a long way as I'm now paying for a zoom extended room, a wetransfer for large files, a large dropbox for music files, a website, Adobe creative suite to create videos and workshops for y'all. It's adding up, lol, so again, as I roll out content, appreciation is appreciated!!
I'll be using a

Let's start your week off with a discussion about Transitional Chording Techniques.
What is it, you ask? It's actually a technique that, once basics are learned, will take you quickly through multi dimensional chord songs.

By multi dimensional, I am talking about those jazz songs and folk rock and even bluegrass that seem to have a variation chord for just about every word. You know those songs. The ones all beginners avoid!!

I'm going to share with you a workshop I developed and did at the uke festival this year. Don't freak, as you go through this you'll say, Whoah, It's Too Advanced!! But really it's just repeating, over and over, that gets you there, right?

So, take this lesson and play it over and over, stop it, pause it, read all the boxes, study all the diagrams, and I promise you, it will open up a whole new world for you.

Like you, I'm a beginner. I'm a beginner every time I start a new song! I study it, figure out how I'm going to slide and transition from chord to chord and then I practice a million times. And I'll still make mistakes and bloopers. That's why I don't edit those out. I want you to see, I'm just like you and I'm human!!! To err is human they say!!

So learn how to slide and connect the dots, and you'll be using these tricks on all your songs real soon.

I'll get better at the sound, I think I need a microphone, but overall, you'll be able to hear everything. I refer to the music sheet in the program often, but you don't need that, just follow the diagrams on the screen. You'll be fine. And I'll find a way to share the actual arrangements with you soon.
These lessons are for educational purposes only and I claim no copywrite to this material other than my Sliding Chord Technique Method.

I'm going to start this off with a mini tutorial!!
Let's talk about keys of songs and how to find the best key for you to sing in.

I always say, as a vocal coach, sing in the key of speak. In other words, and I do mean words, take that song you want to learn, and first, before singing it, read it like a story, out loud.

We naturally speak in our key. We can change our voice, of course, and speak higher or lower than our natural speaking voice, but we don't keep that up 24/7. Eventually, we return to our natural speaking voice because that's where we're comfortable. Right?

So, especially for you newer players who struggle with both playing and singing at the same time, add the problem of singing in a wrong key for your natural voice and frustration sets in.

So, pick up that song and walk through it like you're reading a book. Do this several times, really listen to your speech. Now go ahead and play the song but don't sing, speak it instead in your natural voice. Does it match up?? If it doesn't, grab that capo or use a transposing tool on the music site like ultimate guitar, and move the song up or down by half steps till the notes match your speaking voice. After you're comfortable with the key, start singing the melody. What is this miracle??? All of a sudden you're rocking the whole singing and playing thing, doing the happy dance!!!

For those players that are more advanced beginners, learn the Nashville number system!! You've heard musicians shout across a stage 1 4 5. 1 is usually the key note. So, say the song starts in C. C is 1. So, starting at C, 8 notes would be CDEFGABC. C1 D2 E3 F4 G5 A6 B7 C8. If you hear 1 4 5, key of C then you are playing C F G. This is important to learn so that you can transpose even when there are no tools or charts available!! But this is another lesson and I'll talk about it on a separate thread.

Ok, go try this little hint and help out and let me know how it's working for you!!!!

This is the official public page for Beginner Ukulele Hints and Helps and is affiliated with the now private invitation group of the same name here on Facebook. I will post content publicly here and then share to the private group. I plan to do podcasts and live forums on this page that will further educate beginners and beyond in techniques that will hasten their skill sets and create good habits. So, players of all levels are welcome to join both groups, but for integrity of the group page there are questions, rules and vetting to keep the bots at bay. Happy Posting!!
And always, Ever Strumming, Norine Mungo admin
