Clearwater Beach continues to heal from the devastation left by Hurricane Helene, and unfortunately, the Sunsets at Pier 60 Nightly Festival will need to remain closed until Pier 60 Park is ready to welcome visitors again. For 30 years, we’ve celebrated the world-famous sunsets on Clearwater Beach, and while this storm has brought its challenges, we remain hopeful and optimistic about the brighter days ahead when we can gather once again to enjoy the sunsets that make this place so magical. 🌅

Our Story

Sunsets at Pier 60 debuted on March 17, 1995 as a year-round nightly sunset celebration featuring artisans and street performers on the iconic Pier 60. This 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization serves as a free, family-friendly destination for tourists and locals to experience.

Sunsets at Pier 60’s purpose is to promote Clearwater Beach and Pinellas County as a prime tourism destination and to provide artisans and street performers a platform. Sunsets at Pier 60 also enhances the guest experience and encourages longer stays.

During its nearly 25 year history, Sunsets at Pier 60 has produced numerous special events such as Beach Fest, Caribbean Christmas Art Show and FantaSea of Lights. In 2013, Sunsets at Pier 60 created a new destination event in partnership with the city of Clearwater, the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival.

Every April, Sunsets at Pier 60 produces it's largest special event. The 8th Annual Pier 60 Sugar Sugar Sand Festival is a 17-day beach-wide celebration of Clearwater Beach’s two most notable natural assets: our sugar sand and sunsets. More than 14 sand sculptors use 1,000 tons of Clearwater Beach sand to create a walk-through sand sculpting art exhibit housed in a 21,000-square-foot structure. The event also raises money for the community and supports the educational initiatives of Sunsets at Pier 60.
