Over the past week, our social channels have been focused on sharing essential safety and storm updates about Hurricane Helene. We understand that while many areas of Clearwater are still recovering, some have regained power, cleared debris and have more of a sense of normalcy. As we continue supporting our community through recovery and posting storm information, we’ll also start sharing about upcoming events and activities.
Due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene and to prioritize recovery efforts, Rumba en Clearwater presented by Achieva Credit Union has been canceled. The Clearwater Latin Jazz Fest, a free community event, scheduled for Friday, September 27 at The BayCare Sound at Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater has been postponed due to public safety resources being allocated to post storm response across the city.
Due to Hurricane Helene, the Melissa Etheridge and Jewel concert scheduled for Thursday, September 26 at The BayCare Sound has been canceled. Ticket holders are asked to contact the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office regarding refunds and credits.
The ticket office can be reached by calling 727-791-7400 or by visiting rutheckerdhall.com/about-us/contact-us . Please allow 48 hours for response during regular business hours. The ticket office will close at 2 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 25.

ARTIST FEATURE: Don’t miss Charlie Aponte, legendary Puerto Rican salsa singer, performing live at Rumba en Clearwater presented by Achieva Credit Union on Sept. 28 at Coachman Park at 9 p.m. Aponte rose to fame with the renowned group "El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico" and delivered salsa classics like "No hay cama pa’ tanta gente," "El aguacero," "Brujería," "Arroz con Habichuelas," "Falsaria," "Se nos Perdió el Amor," "Un Verano en Nueva York," "Companera Mia," "Trampolin," among others. His distinctive voice and style contributed to the worldwide recognition of the band. After more than 40 years with the iconic band, he continues to shine as a solo artist.
Gather ye, mark thy calendars for "Plays in the Park"! The community is invited to a theatrical picnic at Coachman Park hosted by Clearwater Public Library System. Attendees will engage in a lively reading of an act from a famous play, with parts randomly assigned. No acting experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets, towels or chairs. The group will meet at the main library's first-floor lobby before venturing to a picturesque spot in the park (weather permitting).
