Recently, I was granted the incredible opportunity to photograph the remarkable team at Wellhousemedspa, truly a gem of a facility nestled within the historic walls of an old mansion situated in the charming neighborhood of Tremont. It's not just the building that's impressive; the range of aesthetic services they offer is extensive and top-notch. Their proximity to downtown makes it an ideal spot for anyone looking to enhance their beauty and wellness. Every member of the staff radiates an infectious enthusiasm and positivity that fills the space—it’s palpable from the moment you step into the elegant setting. I highly recommend paying them a visit; it's a wonderful experience through and through! Show them some love and witness the magic they work!

Last week I got to go back home to do great business accelerate course for photographers with Daniel Wakefield and Peter Hurley in Peter's Studio in Chelsea. I took the NYC Waterway into the city. It was a beautiful fall day and was able to capture that. FYI the NYC Waterway came to pickup the passengers when they landed in the Hudson River. My mom use to live in a Co-Op with this view. People would ask her, why don't you live in NYC? Her response " Why would I want to look at Jersey?!". Only my mother 🙃 and I also earned my BFAS from the hashtag !. hashtag hashtag hashtag

Tracy just soared over her latest career hurdle and decided to mark the occasion in true style - by getting an outstanding headshot makeover 🌟📸. Photographing connected, we experimented with a variety of enchanting backdrops, ensuring each one perfectly accentuated her striking spectrum of hair colors. Next tip is called off camera flash. When shooting outside, I always use some sort of light either constant or flash. So when you are shooting outside, you want to expose for the background, but what does that mean. Well, I took a picture (corrected the exposure) for the back, but while doing that the subject would not be highlighted or exposed properly. By using Off camera flash I was able to light up the subject and the sign. We are just adding light to what we want to focus on!

Last post we talked about long exposure, but today we will talk about lighting. This is more for cameras and cell phones. In the studio we have 2 types of artificial light, constant ( always on) and Strobe ( Flash). If you are using a regular camera with a flash, usually the flash fires immediately once you click the button, but if I did that with this photo the subjects face would be out of focus. In your camera you can change it to something called second curtain sync, but what does this mean? Instead of firing immediately, the flash fires right before the shutter closes, so it flashes at the end and not the beginning. Please if you have any questions please let me know!! As you know I am headshot and branding photographer, but I also and love to do dance photography to be creative. I would like to a feature this week not only the dance pictures, but explain how I go the picture . I have always loved to teach, so this week going to teach a little photography. So if you have little or big ones that are into dance here are some tips.

This picture was done with long exposure which means the shutter of the camera is open for a longer time. When click the shutter button, this opens the shutter. Typical shutter time will vary and is also based on other factors. The shutter was open for 2 seconds, so as the subject moved we got the blur. But there was a little more to it. This was done in the studio so also the lighting played a part in this, which we will talk about in the next post

Bring a couple of pair, if you have them. Don't worry if you did not pay extra for the anti-reflective lens coating, (I did not!), we are able to take out the lens glare!!

Here are a few images that I retouched from the other day. To me getting the light as close to perfect is my goal! I love the softness of the light on the portrait, just 2 lights and neither were directly on the subject , one light was feathered and bounced in a V-Flat and the other was diffused through the scrim to soften the light
