Books on the Bosque Writing Contest & Conference
ATTENTION, WRITERS! Deadline for entering Books on the Bosque’s 3rd Annual Writing Contest is Friday, September 20, at 5 p.m. Two divisions: High School and Open.
Cash prizes of $3,800 available, including $1,000 Jones Best of the West Award in the open division. The award will go to the most original work in any category that pays homage to the values of faith, hard work, and perseverance—the Spirit of the West—exemplified in the pioneer days through modern-day ranchers and farmers.
Work will be accepted in the genres of short story, narrative nonfiction essay, and poetry (rhymed/unrhymed). Cash prizes of $300, $200, & $100 will go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category of the open division.
High school prizes will be awarded across prose (short story and essay) and poetry categories: First place $275; second place $150, and third place $75.
LITERARY CONFERENCE AND AWARDS CEREMONY: NOVEMBER 9. Conference admission $30--continental breakfast and lunch included.

Casino night returns to the Bosque Arts Center with Hold’em, craps, slots, roulette, and blackjack. Your $50 admission buys funny funds for gaming from 7 - 10 p.m. with the chance to purchase more chips if you run out. At 10, purchase tickets with your winnings for drawings of great prizes. BYOB.
