Our Story
Located just 10 miles from downtown Des Moines, Horizon Events Center is a premier year-round event space. We provide a comprehensive location for a variety of event arrangements, including concerts, comedy shows, sporting events, weddings, trade shows, corporate events, etc.
Prior to 2014, the venue had operated as a health and fitness center for more than 25 years. In 2014, the building began making its transition to a venue space to host a variety of events. From spa conventions to classic rock revival shows, the venue used its unique background and layout to draw all sorts of crowds out to Clive.
In 2018, the venue was acquired by Barker Financial to build the space up to its potential. The first step in this process was wiping the slate clean and starting from scratch. In 2019, a new management team was assembled and began taking steps toward a major renovation of the entire facility.
