The Riley Arena is looking for a Facility Manager to supervise day-day operations of an Ice Skating & Event Center. Our 28,500 square foot facility provides seasonal ice for hockey, figure skating, and general skating events. During the off-ice season, the arena is used for trade shows, conferences, charity events, and other similar functions.
Responsibilities:
o Oversee the ice surface maintenance and is responsible for laying and removing it
o Ensuring the ice surface is in optimal condition for skating and other activities, which may involve operating an ice resurfacer (Zamboni)
o Coordinating public skating sessions, hockey games, figure skating events, and other activities, including managing rink reservations and on/off ice event logistics.
o Providing excellent customer service, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
o Enforcing rink rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and handling emergency situations.
o The average expected hours will be around 40 per week. There will be busy times when more hours are needed and slower times when less hours are required
o Obtaining grants for the facility
o Managing the rink's budget, tracking expenses, handling cash flow, ordering of inventory and potentially developing marketing strategies to attract customers.
o Evaluate staffing needs and effectiveness of current personnel including recruitment, hiring, training & regular evaluations
Qualifications:
· Prior management experience required. Ice rink experience a plus but not required. will train as necessary
· Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to lift/carry 50lbs, operate machinery (like a Zamboni), and work in varying temperatures and conditions.
· Previous grant writing experience preferred but not required
· Must pass pre-employment background check
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak season.
· Valid driver’s license
· High school diploma
