The skills you’re born with don’t have to be the only ones you have for the rest of your life.

There are always opportunities for you to grow new skill sets and reach your full potential.

If you have a desire to learn to dance but haven’t started because it doesn’t come natural to you, (musically or physically) that doesn’t mean that you can’t learn and be incredibly happy and successful as a dancer. It’s never too late!

No matter your age or skill set if you have a partner or not, it doesn’t matter… what matters is that you take the leap with a willing heart, find a place to learn, and enjoy the process! You never know where dance can take you!

Why private lessons might be a great option for you!

1. Private lessons focus solely on YOU, the customer. Thus, the instructor can create a tailor-made lesson plan for you that addresses your motivations, learning style, and learning pace. Many reasons exist for taking private dance lessons but they usually fall into two main groups: competitive dancing and social dancing. If you have always wanted to participate in the exciting world of competitive ballroom dancing, lessons will be more tailored to developing the proper technique and learning flashy choreography. On the other hand, if you are looking for a broad introduction to the most popular dances, steps, and proper technique including how to lead/follow, social lessons would be better.

2. Private lessons are also quite convenient as you can schedule your lessons at times that are convenient for you, unlike group dance lessons which are largely scheduled on set days and times. Most studios are open during the afternoon and evening, and some on Saturdays, so there is plenty of time for scheduling lessons.

3. Finally, students in private lessons also typically make faster progress because of the one-on-one instruction. This individualized, hands-on process enables the instructor to identify your strengths and weaknesses in order to provide customization in greater detail.

So sad to hear of the passing of Olivia. If you are a dancer, I guarantee more than a few times you’ve danced and performed to several of her songs. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on through her films music dancing and her advocacy for breast cancer research. Here’s a throwback of me as Sandy. I guess we didn’t want to sport the predictable couples outfits that year….where’s Danny?
