Greenbluff Fresh Catering Company is a unique caterer with monthly menus based on what is ripe on Greenbluff during that period. We service Spokane, Spokane Valley, Colbert, Mead, Deer Park, and more, with our fresh and full-flavored combinations.
Help us kickstart the upick zinnia season with $5 bouquets this weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 7a-7p. Not all the colors are blooming just yet, but there are loads of beautiful blooms to cut now. Come see us at 7717 E Ballard, across the street from Knapp's on Green Bluff who will also be open for strawberry picking.
📍📍📍The last few years have brought on many changes here at the headquarters. We have lived in my grandparents, Mel & Bonny Walker's, farmhouse since 2010. My ancestors immigrated to Green Bluff in 1891 and turned this property into a farm that has supported six generations. In 2020, my grandma Bonny died, which left me with a decision to make. So, two years ago, I purchased a parcel of 11 acres out of my grandparents original estate and over the last two years, we have been slowing moving 133 years worth of life, up the hill, just one parcel between the new house and the old house. The task is finally complete and something that has never happened before...happened. The farmhouse went up for sale...and it sold to a couple who pledges to restore it, and grandpa's beautiful barn. When you drive by next, the progress is evident. As for the new place up the hill, Green Bluff Fresh Farms, we planted 600 peonies, 3,700 elephant garlic, 3,000 zinnia plants of 15 different colors, five varieties of mushrooms, herbs, and 12 fruit trees with 29 varieties. These crops will be used in the catering and we will also open up the farm to the public for u-pick zinnia bouquets. Annnnnd, we assembled a solar powered geodesic dome with a 16ft panoramic window, king bed, outdoor shower, and a stellar view of Mt.Spokane and the stars, to welcome others to enjoy the farm and its vistas. The Greenhouse Glamp Dome can be found on airbnb and hipcamp. Link in the bio.
As for my family's original farmhouse, if you zoom in on the picture, you can see we didn't go far. I have enjoyed watching it receive the face-lift it so deserves from its new owners. It's an end to the Walker era at 17512 N Greenbluff and the beginning of a new, but familiar one, just up the road.

We stuffed this bad boy morel with local venison sausage, butter and garlic soaked morels, goat cheese, cream cheese, fresh herbs, a few greenbluff eggs, and tempura battered and deep fried this monster to cripsy bacon like pleasure. Soooo incredibly delicious.

Mel Walker was my grandfather. He would have been 101 today. If not for him and the ancestors who birthed him, we would not be here living our dream, creating meals for you, using fruit from trees he planted. The farm and its method of supporting a family has changed over the last six generations with this catering company being the latest itteration. I like to think he would be proud of how we've adapted. He was the hardest working man I've ever known and I'm inspired daily by him whenever I feel "pooped," as he would have said. He was the true salt of the earth and I'm grateful for his lessons even though I didn't know they were lessons at the time. On his deathbed, I can never forget, he was laying there with eyes closed, dreaming, and to our amazement, he reached up to pick an imaginary apple and brought it to his mouth for a bite, over and over. Even in the fog of death, he was working. This farm was his life, his legacy, his happy place. This fruit is his gift that keeps baring for all the generations after him to forge their own path. I feel more than proud to build my vision around the seeds he planted and honor his life by working as tirelessly as he. It is my hope that one day, generations after me will benefit from my hardwork as I have benefited from his. Eat an apple today in honor of Melvin Malcolm Walker 🍎🍏🍎🍏 and maybe utter your most favorite cuss word too...he would have liked that.
