Perennials for ever ✨✌🏻
Lots of jewel w**d but I try to let some drop seeds before I w**d it because it’s a native annual. Horsetail…not so much.

Around this time last year for Kate & Cody captured by

Long tables don't need big arrangements, but instead look full with lots of little buddies. We used a mix of bud vases and plants. Kate and her Mom helped by potting up the flowering plants we used on the tables.

I love using plants for weddings, especially when I know they're going to be adopted by the couple after the event. All the shrubs and perennials for the arbor now live at the couple's home. I hope the flowers remind you of your wedding each year to come!

It felt great to reset some rows! I mowed past Spring flowers and w**ds down in order to tarp and replant in a few weeks.

Looking back at the past two seasons compared to this one, there is less abundance, and it’s purposeful. I planned for this! There’s fewer Summer weddings this year; I need fewer flowers. I’m working less and playing more. I’m prioritizing friends, reading, paddle boarding, and short trips.

There’s still plenty to do to take care of plants, plus subscriptions and everyday deliveries to the greater Burlington area each week. But wanted to share the reality and benefit of choosing to work a little less as a self employed person. What a privilege 💪🏻.

2018 - 2023 in mother's day flower deliveries. I started this business with my first real sale on Mother's Day 2018. (It was to !) This big-flower-holiday is a perfect kickoff to the growing season in Vermont.

There's lot of ways to get your hands on local flowers from grocery store bouquets to farmers markets to retail florists and everything in between. If you're looking for that wow factor, we will deliver it--literally and figuratively!

Wow did you see the sky on Wednesday? ✨ so grateful for our slice of paradise.

Comparing these current pictures to those from two years ago to remind myself of all and I have built and planted to make this dream a reality. It’s too easy to feel insufficient or lacking; the pull of comparison is so great.

Trying to be better about grounding my thoughts in reality.

Some 💐 deliveries and highlights from last week - on the cusp of the Spring Equinox - the earliest iris reticulata bloom I’ve seen since I started keeping track, some freshly prepped beds, lots of gerberas, and forced tulips and hyacinths.

Also amazing what a .cafe sandwich can do to turn around a day.

With the Spring equinox around the corner, we're switching on more delivery days (Tu-Sa). I'd love to make you something! Delivery is complimentary to South Hero, Colchester, Winooski, South Burlington, Burlington, and most of Milton. ✨

According to my records (ahem photo archive), this view should be exactly two months away. HOWEVER, the narcissus are poking out a good 3+ weeks earlier than last year so who knows.

I'm experimenting with crate forcing tulips and hyacinths. I have those earlier than ever, too. Filling our deliveries with my own flowers again was balm I didn't realize I needed. Only more to come from here.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to these two gentlemen✨

Looking back at my past work, I’m remembering where each bit was sourced (which is exceptionally more complicated in Winter). Even for small weddings like Paul & Ian’s, I delight in gathering flowers grown as nearby as possible. In this case, most of the flowers were from Vermont, the foliage from California, I grew the paperwhites, and foraged the sensitive fern pods.

Understated boutonnieres complement their classic look rather than stealing the show, which is my general preference for folks wearing suits.

I saw narcissus poking their noses out of the dirt today. What other signs of life are you seeing during this weird winter?

I'm teaching a workshop at Burlington this Saturday at 11am. We'll make a wall hanging together, and I'll tell you all about what flowers I like to dry and how, with lots of pictures.

Should be a great antidote for those missing their gardens! I'm bringing loads of dried beauties for us to work with.

Looking forward to putting together the beauty for this Wednesday. 💕 It’s not late to order a one time delivery or a subscription 💐.

I sprinkled some poppy seeds outside yesterday because why not it was 50F! We also started to get the low tunnels up over the outdoor tulips. Feels more like March than February. Hoping for a little more winter personally ⛷️❄️.

Skip the roses for Valentine's Day. They're all grown in the Southern Hemisphere this time of year. Instead, opt for locally grown tulips. In the traditional language of flowers, different color tulips held different meanings. For example, red tulips represented deep love while pink indicated affectionate love and yellow sent friendship love. Maybe your partner is all of those things and would appreciate some tulips this year.

Some of my favorite Winter things for our signature VDay bouquet -- Gerberas (Ontario), Tulips (Vermont), Stock, and Asiatic Lilies (California). Asiatic lilies are long lasting and dramatic without the lily fragrance. The stock brings the fragrance; just like cloves. And tulips are the ultimate sign of love in the traditional language of flowers.

The most common question folks asked this weekend at the BTV Winter Market was “how long do your wreaths last?” Here’s what I said. I have a northern facing front door, and my wreath from last year is still hanging 😂. It went from green to mostly brown probably sometime in June. But honestly I think it still looks better than no wreath.

One situation that will shorten the life of your evergreen wreath: a storm door, especially one with direct southern sun will make a lil oven and make your wreath shed its needles faster. In our climate though you should still have something lovely well into February if not March.

In my experience in Vermont, there’s a good chance you’ll be ready to take down your wreath before its needles drop.

Wreath making has begun! We're doing things a little differently this year, and hoping to receive your order online in advance. Order by Small Biz Saturday to receive our best price ($60, normally $68). We have two styles of wreaths we're spinning- the RAINBOW and the more traditional Woodland. Both are made with evergreens from Vermont tree farms, our own dried flowers, and locally foraged bits. The 12" base is metal (which is recyclable) and everything else is compostable. The finished wreath diameter is ~22" When hung outside in our climate, your wreath will last well into Spring.

Delivery, Pick Up, and Shipping are available starting after Thanksgiving. We'll fulfill in the order received. Thank you so much if you've already placed your order!

I'll be at the BTV Winter Market in City Hall Park this Saturday (12-6pm) & Sunday (12-4pm) with the two choices and also taking orders for later delivery (life happens, and I don't think we have enough premade!) There will be LOTS of dried flower bunches as well and some dried wreaths.

For One of a Kind evergreen wreaths, we have a Custom Commission option on the website if you'd like a specific color palette or style. More One of a Kind dried wreaths will be online next month and into the new year.

Also, I'm considering inviting one or two people at a time to the studio to make their own wreath (midday, midweek only). Is that something you'd be interested in? Let me know!

Finally, stay tuned for a DIY small wreath offering at a local brewery to be announced soon.

Some really kind words about our retail wedding flower offering I keep going back to...

"We just got our gallery back from the photographer and your flowers really had such a starring role. Thank you so much for providing flowers for our wedding day. Your retail wedding service felt like it was made for us, and your creative initiative that comes with that service was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders during planning. Your portfolio speaks for itself and you so delivered!! Everything was perfect. Attached are some photos that I thought really showed off how special the flowers were on our day. The ceremony arrangements made such a huge impact, I loved them. And your local-first model made our north country hearts so happy. I’m so happy we found you!"

Allie & Michael placed their flower order back in December 2022 for their late July 2023 wedding. We had a quick phone conversation in February, and Allie shared some inspo photos of our own work (I love that!) plus some table and attire color palette.

Allie emailed to make sure we were okay after all the flooding in early July, which was so kind. We coordinated what time we'd deliver flowers on the day (the Lake House is so close to our farm and studio!), and that was that. I wanted to share because it's really that simple. Retail is about trusting us to make something beautiful and locally grown for you. About a week after the wedding, Allie dropped our rented stands (my favorites - they're umbrella stands from Target circa 2018) back at our Colchester studio.

If you're thinking about flowers for an event in 2024, even if it's going to be a small budget, we'd love to help. And if you can return rented items to us after your event, I'm excited to add some rental offerings where it counts, like these stand arrangements, which were perfect for this rainy day on the porch at the Lake House.

Oh lastly! Here's Allie & Michael's order for full transparency: 1 wedding bouquet - extravagant, 6 wedding bouquets - petite, 3 bouts - with ribbon, 2 stand arrangements, and 2 DIY buckets - for bud vases.

Dried flower season is year-round in my opinion.

That being said, as we harvest more and more for drying, it’s fun to get excited about the latest things we’ve dried, like these apple mint flowers. They have the teeniest hint of lavender! Paired perfectly with pink gomohrena and ammobium on this ADORABLE little crown.

Should we put dried crowns as an item in our shop? Another great thing about dried flowers is we can ship them 📦.
