Valentines Day arrangements today!
Hello everyone, Now is the time to start planning Valentines Day & I am thrilled that so many of you think flowers are the way to go! There’s nothing quite like a beautiful bouquet walking into the office and your significant other hearing they are for them! “Can this be!? It’s for me!?”
As a floral business owner, I feel it’s important I educate my friends and family on the differences between ordering flowers from a locally owned business VS through an online company such as FTD, Telelfora, ProFlowers, Ava’s, 1800flowers, bouqs, etc.
These companies work overtime right now to ensure their Google listings sit perfectly above local businesses and catch your eye first. While all of these companies will try to win your affection with amazing sales, pricing that seems too good to be true (and is), and stellar service...here is how the system actually works.
Each of these companies works with a call center and multiple websites to order collect. They then immediately take a hefty fee off the top (especially at a holiday) and your order is ready to be farmed out. Your flowers and product are either drop shipped and delivered unassembled in a box from UPS or FedEx, or sent to a brick and mortar flower shop. The flower shop keeps only a portion of the money, with the order gathering company keeping the rest simply catching that sale. They should organize a football team because they are incredible interceptors. It’s actually quite impressive.
If you’ve ended up pleased with an order placed through one of these companies, please consider that it’s the service and skill on a LOCAL level that ended up taking such great care of you. Pay attention to the business name on the enclosure card and consider using them directly in the future! Share their name with your friend or family member who sent them, too!
In summary, it is ALWAYS best to find a trusted local florist no matter if you are sending in town or across the world.
So you are thinking about sending flowers!
