Saving peony buds in the refrigerator for up to 3 months — The peonies are starting to bloom! Did you know it’s easy to save peony buds for up to 3 months for blooms later? Here’s how to do it—Just as the buds are starting to show color at the top and feel like a marshmallow, cut the stems, strip leaves to reduce water loss and snuggly wrap in a paper towel before wrapping in plastic wrap/plastic bags/damp newspaper (stem to bud making sure everything is covered). Then you simply place the buds horizontally in the refrigerator up to three months for use later. When you’re ready to use the flowers, remove from the refrigerator, cut the stems at an angle to the appropriate length, put them in a vase of room temperature water and they will soon open. This is such a simple way to enjoy these beauties well beyond their regular blooming time in the garden. Photos by Dickie Chick Gardening

We will be closed Thursday afternoon and all day Friday to attend our daughter’s graduations from K-State College of Veterinary Medicine. We will be making deliveries on Saturdays as well.

For Everybody who has a Senior Graduation on May 10th- Or has a Mother, We will be closed Thursday May 9th at 1:00 and all Day Friday May 10th to attend our daughters Graduation from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine. Please call for orders early ,for that week, We will be back in the shop Early Saturday Morning to fulfill orders and make Deliveries.

We are looking for a couple more models for next weekends Fashion Show at RiOak. We are currently looking for a Baby Girl. Sizes 3-18 month. We also looking for a Girl size 4-6. And a Baby Boy/ Little Boy size 3-18 Month or 2T-5T. This will be one outfit, only take a few minutes. I’ll provide brunch tickets. Let me know if you have a kiddo available.
