Sierra Vista Center, Inc. also know as the Sierra Vista Community Center, owns and occupies the former Colfax Elementary School site located at 55 School Street in downtown Colfax. The main building was constructed by the WPA in 1940 and was used as an elementary school until 1984. SVC was incorporated as a 501( c )3 Non-Profit in 1987 and has occupied the site since 1991. SVC is an independent me
mbership based organization, which is overseen by a membership elected Board of Directors. Board members do not receive any compensation. SVC does not receive any City, County, or State funding. The bills are paid with the income received from room rentals, memberships and donations, and grants. We have a part time Manager in the office . The majority of area non-profits and service clubs use the facility for fundraising and community events. These groups include the Colfax Lion’s Club, and their annual free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Soroptimists of Colfax and their annual Soup Kitchen, and Colfax Garden Club. The licensed commercial kitchen can be rented by the hour or by the day. Multipurpose room is 3,000 sq ft and can hold up to 240 people for big events.
