A series of helicopter landings and take-offs is planned on Chapel Fields as part of educational and training exercises for the Army ROTC program. These events are standard practice and are not cause for alarm. There will be minimal disruption to foot traffic on Chapel Fields during landing and take-off.

The events are currently scheduled for:
Nov. 22, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Nov. 24, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

These dates and times are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice.

Get your laurels to Laurel and help support you friendly local SMR Commander, Mr. Jerry Darnell as he strives to improve our communities and our pallets one brisket at a time. Celebrate the Holiday Season at City Hall! Join us at the City's annual Winter Wonderland Holiday Market and Tree Lighting!

Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 2pm - 8pm on the Plaza at City Hall.

This free community event will feature a wide array of activities, entertainment, and fun to celebrate the holiday season. There will be live music on a main stage, as well as carolers, arts and crafts, story readings and a petting zoo. Food and drink vendors will provide refreshments. The event will also feature an appearance by Santa, a gingerbread house display and the lighting of the City of College Park's Holiday tree.

Spread some holiday cheer by checking off some items on your wish list at the holiday market, featuring vendors from Shop Made in Maryland and be sure to view the winners of our annual Gingerbread House Competition that will be on display.

Today, College Park Post 217 proudly stands with our neighbors at the Riverdale Veterans Memorial, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of our local veterans. This beautiful memorial is made from leftover marble from the Vietnam Memorial in DC, a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made across generations. Together, we celebrate the values of God, Country, and COMMUNITY. 🇺🇸

Sunday afternoon at Post 217 was one for the books! We were thrilled to welcome the Navy Band, and they didn’t disappoint. The music filled the room, and the camaraderie warmed our hearts—what a fantastic way to spend an afternoon! A huge thank you to the Navy Band for sharing their talent with us and to everyone who came out to enjoy the show. Here’s to more unforgettable moments at College Park American Legion Post 217!

This Veterans Day, let’s go beyond a simple “thank you.” We encourage everyone to make a personal connection with one of our nation’s 17 million veterans and truly show gratitude through meaningful action.
