[TLDR: Take a breath and take care of yourself. You've got this.]

A loving reminder for all you lovely flower friends (and anyone else in a busy season of their life or work) as so many of us step out of prep and into action this week. If you wear a watch or have a smart speaker, set reminders to take 10 minutes every couple hours to take care of yourself. Profits mean nothing if the toll the work takes on your body makes you unable to enjoy them when it's all over.

My mantra is courtesy of (found via Instagram): "I am moving through today at a mindful pace. I am embracing the rhythm of each season."

If you don't have a space in your shop that is away from the hustle, I strongly suggest you take an hour today to create one. I'm resetting my office, stocking my self care basket, and closing the door. My office is not for work this week, it's for rest. When I or a team member need a minute, we can go inside, close the door, and take a deep breath. Whether it's a cozy chair in the corner with some noise canceling headphones or earplugs ready to go, a snack station with a balance of indulgent and supportive foods, or a grassy spot outside with a blanket- create space for YOU to exist for a moment outside your work.

I know for so many of us, holidays like this pay our bills during the slow season, and the pressure to perform without error is huge- but you've got this. Whether it's your 1st big holiday or your 100th, don't be fooled into thinking your business is more important than your self and remember that even if flowers is your passion, we work to live, not live to work.

So if you don't know who's behind Colleyville Florist- let me introduce myself! I'm Rachel! The guy in the picture is my fiancé and the man that keeps me sane even through holidays like Valentine's Day! While we have had other designers in the past, right now I'm a one woman design team, my future brother-in-law is my delivery driver, and my best friend comes in at busy times to keep my frazzled brain on track and help answer the phones. Even my amazing parents use a couple of vacation days to come support me during Valentine's Day. If you're ordering from Colleyville Florist- you're supporting US- not some huge faceless company with only profits in mind. Our families, our futures, our passions. I do this because I LOVE it, because being able to use my creative gift to help people express their love and care for others is the greatest gift I can give to this world. It's crazy how much this little bubble made me do a happy dance. After trying to get our profile verified and our address updated for over a month, I think we're finally getting close! Fingers crossed we'll be all updated and open to pickups for Thanksgiving next week!

This position is great for someone who wants to wear a lot of hats and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. Flower shops aren’t just playing with flowers all day and we really need someone to help us stay organized and get stuff done!
