We are so proud to announce that the Jazz Band earned All Superior Ratings at the WTSBOA Jazz Festival today at the University of Memphis. Two of our students, James Garrick and Houston Moore, also earned Outstanding Soloist awards! If you would like a chance to see them perform, we have a concert tonight in the CHS Pickler Auditorium at 6:30 pm and we are performing at the Collierville Fair on the Square Sunday at noon!

Throughout March, the CHS Band delivered a total of 14 performances! These performances included the spring musical: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, MIA Southaven Competition, MIA State Championships, Indoor Send-Off Performance, Chamber Ensemble Performances, and Concert Festival.

At concert festival, all three concert ensembles participated in professional adjudications at WTSBOA Concert Performance Assessments. We're thrilled to share that every ensemble received Superior and Excellent ratings across both concert and sight-reading segments.

During Spring Break, Dragon Indoor Percussion, JV Winter Guard, and Varsity Winter Guard participated in the Mississippi Indoor Association’s State Championships. We're thrilled to share our achievements: Dragon Indoor Percussion secured 10th place in Percussion Scholastic A, JV Winter Guard earned the Bronze Medal in Guard Scholastic Regional A, and Varsity Winter Guard also proudly clinched the Bronze Medal in Guard Scholastic A!

What a fantastic conclusion to Music in our Schools Month! We are so proud of these students and the dedication to the band program throughout Music in our Schools Month.

Varsity Winter Guard is embarking on a groundbreaking journey to the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, OH. This marks a historic milestone for our school as it's the first time this ensemble is stepping into the global stage, marking a significant evolution in their journey.

Jazz Band heads to Concert Festival at the University of Memphis and performs at home on April 30th at 7pm!

March may be Music in our Schools Month, but February is sure giving it a run for its money! In the past few weeks our Dragon Band students have participated in WTSBOA All-West Band Clinic, Jazz Cafe, Dragon Spin Indoor Competition, Pre-Festival Concert, and today Varsity Winter Guard competed in the Winter Guard International - Huntsville Regional.

At Dragon Spin our Dragon Indoor Percussion earned 1st place in Percussion Scholastic A, Junior Varsity Winter Guard earned 2nd place in Scholastic Regional A, and Varsity Guard Winter Guard earned 2nd place in Scholastic A.

Today the Varsity Winter Guard was a finalist in the WGI Huntsville Regional and earned 9th place in Scholastic A with a score of 72.99. This is 3 places and almost 5 points ahead of their score at the same regional last year!

None of these events would have been possible if not for the tireless work of our band boosters, parents volunteers, students, and staff. Thank you to all of the parents ands students that have donated their time, labor, and patience in planning and hosting all of our events this past month! Special thanks to our organizing parents: Andrea Hand, Kim Jones, Stephanie Ackinson, Theresa Rial, and Nichole Finn!

These next two weeks we can look forward to the concert bands participating in the WTSBOA Concert Festival and select students will be performing with the theatre department in their spring musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!
