Really happy with the way these cute little pumpkins turned out! We will have lots of fall flavored items at the Saint Joe family fall festival this weekend at the farmers market!
I made some dried wreaths for the St Joe Market on Saturday! It takes a while to dry the flowers and then it’s messy to make them so I don’t do it often but when I do, I remember how much I enjoy creating them!
It was a beautiful day at the market today! We’d love to see you all again next week!! Only a few more weeks until the end of the season…

Soulards friends…
We have gone back and forth on making a post like this and finally got the courage to when some business owner friends of ours recently had to do the same.
Soulards needs your help and support right now.
When we first took the leap to open and invested our entire lives into this shop, we were told that most small businesses fail within 5 years. July will be 5 years open for us and if we are being honest, we are worried that this might be our last summer in operation. If things don’t turn around, we will need to start a new plan for after this year.
We have loved serving this community and have tried our hardest to survive every obstacle in our way… there have been many put in our way. COVID was terrifying but it is also when the public was fighting for their small businesses to survive. Post covid… most small businesses are struggling, especially restaurants. Supply chain issues, labor issues, price hikes, competing with big chains, equipment failures, the list goes on. Like many others, we are facing a financial challenge. Our sales are half of what they once were. We have heard from many businesses in town that they are also much slower. We have bills stacking up and want to be able to keep our employees. We also have to replace a serious piece of equipment that we need. We think sometimes people forget that we are real people. Just a couple of locals born and raised here, with 2 young kids that go to your local school and activities. 2 people that had an idea and worked their asses off to make it happen. We are not just some random people who own Soulards. We are your neighbor, we are in the school pickup line with you, we are sitting next to you at local sporting events, we are donating time and money to fundraisers to help our community, we are parents, our kids are young but proud of their parents for owning a business. We cry when we get a bad review or get attacked on social media. We are not just business owners trying to make a dollar.
We have definitely been trying to do the work to keep our business open. Our summer staff is back from college and we will be extending our hours with consistent workers, we are stocking up on supplies, thinking of new things to offer, and working on an advertising plan. We are even looking into a Soulards app so that it will be easy for you to order and get rewards. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t burnt out this winter, but we still have fight left in us and remember that 5 years ago, this was the dream. We didn’t realize the hardships that would come with owning a business but damn it, we are trying our best.
We don’t post this to ask for your pity but completely just to ask that along with sending us positive vibes... can you please help send business our way as much as you possibly can? It can be as simple as sharing our posts on your social media. We still offer coffee, bubble drinks, baked goods/treats, our delicious sandwich & salad menu, and of course all of our custom cakes and desserts for special events. Graduation and wedding season is upon us and that is our specialty! Have you seen our new dessert grazing table option? Perfect for parties, weddings, and even corporate events. Or maybe you haven’t been to see us in a while and just want to stop by for lunch. Any help is help and its appreciated!
We have a few amazing young ladies that work for us and they are excited for a busy summer season. They want all the hours we can give, and we want to keep them around so help us give them plenty of work to do ;) Share a smile with them as well because good help is hard to find, and we are so appreciative to have them with us.
Thank you for the continued support and understanding. We love Southwest Michigan and want to be here a long time to continue serving you! We have actively tried to support so many others through our shop for the last 5 years and now are hoping the good vibes will be returned upon us
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers, Grandmothers, and Great Grandmothers; to all those who have suffered the pain of Motherhood, but none of the joys; and to those who have the love and desire in their hearts, but not had a little one to share that love with. Wishing you all a blessed day 🩷
Just loooove the way this petite vase came out!!
