If there's one thing you can learn about elopements today it's this:

Elopements do not always mean a big adventure out in nature. Elopements do not always mean going on long hikes in the mountains. Elopements mean you celebrate your day exactly how you want to!

I'll share more later about how this couple celebrated their day. For now, enjoy some pictures from their day!

Did you know you can elope or have a small wedding here???

Eloping does not always mean hiking for miles. That's for couples who WANT an adventurous elopement. When you elope, everything is on your terms.

So maybe something more elegant in an urban setting is more your jam. Perhaps you're planning a small wedding but don't love the big venue vibe.

This is Cheesman Park in Denver, CO. A quiet park that neighbors Denver Botanic Gardens. This pavilion can be reserved through the City of Denver.

This location is perfect for the couple that wants a simple & elegant vibe for their special day.

Message me for more information about Cheesman Park!

Some of the greatest experiences in the history of humankind have taken place around food. Throughout many civilizations and cultures, we have all shared moments of triumph, laughter, joy, and community. Food is an experience.

When events like weddings are being planned more times than not food is a part of the conversation. How do we feed everyone? What should we serve at our wedding? These are common questions couples ask. But what if a couple wanted to go beyond making sure their guests are being fed a good meal? What if a couple wants to create a unique food experience? What would that look like?

For David & Loryana it was a pizza food truck. Mountain Crust Catering provided a flavorful dinner experience that brought everyone together. Guests were able to experience many rich and flavorful pizzas as they spent an evening celebrating the happy couple.

Guests were free to move about the venue. Some made their way to the back where they could find yard games and the pizza truck. Hot & fresh pizzas were readily available for when they needed another bite. The welcoming staff of Mountain Crust Catering brought pizzas to tables when requested.

This experience provided the perfect environment for long-lasting memories to be made. Imagine your future wedding day. Everyone you love is there to celebrate you. Two families sit amongst each other, laughing, crying, and sharing food. There is not an empty stomach. Just full bellies and warm hearts.

What would your ideal food experience be?

Imagine a day that reflects you to the fullest. The is and breathes your love. Your love and story are so perfectly captured it creates your own book of poetry. The words you cannot seem to find come alive. They are the breeze dancing with your hair. They are the whispers of breath you take in between the words you speak, the tears of joy, and the laughter of peace.

Imagine all these wonderful things happening the day you marry the love of your life.

I'm going to be super real with you all. You do not have to settle for anything that doesn't feel 100% you for your wedding day. Read that as many times as you need.

Contrary to what many think and may express, you are NEVER wrong in choosing what's best for you. Every decision you make for your wedding day should come from a place of authenticity, not obligation or settlement.

Wyatt & Abby did just that. When they first started planning, they were planning a big traditional wedding. They started looking at venues. The more they went down this path the more they realized this wasn't them. This is not how they wanted to celebrate their special day.

They ditched the traditional wedding and started planning their destination elopement! They decided on Glacier National Park for their elopement.

They traded an event for something much deeper and more meaningful to them. They spent a week with their closest friends and family in Whitefish, Montana. On their wedding day, they said their vows at a spot that instantly spoke to Abby the first time she saw it. After viewing several venue options in North Dakota, nothing really spoke to her, nothing created that spark that made her most alive. When they decided on Glacier, she started looking up ceremony locations. She came across a picture of Sunpoint and instantly knew that was it, that was where they would get married.

So here's the thing. Every couple deserves to feel this about their wedding day. You deserve to feel that spark throughout the planning process. If something doesn't feel right, then it's not right. Regardless if you're wanting a traditional wedding or you want to elope, you deserve to have a day that feels truest to you.

If you want to be unconventional, DO IT. It doesn't make you a bad son/daughter, sister/brother, friend or even person. It makes you human. Go plan the day that sets your soul on fire!

Not sure where to even start? Send me a message and we can have a conversation on how to plan your true to you wedding day.

When you feel most alive

You know the feeling right? When that rush of excitement and energy pulses through every vein. You stand the tallest you’ve ever stood, arch your back, stretch out your arms, and scream to the sky with all of your soul. You cannot help but wonder if you should cry, laugh, or maybe both.

This feeling is electric! The best high there ever was. You feel completely seen. You feel as if your voice can travel to the ends of the Earth and BE HEARD. Truly heard. In this moment, you feel like who you are as a being matters.

This is an experience every single person deserves to have. As often as possible. You deserve to feel most alive in every aspect of your life, not just behind closed doors.

You deserve to feel most alive on a random Tuesday when you go on trips, when you’re around those who you love most. You deserve to feel most alive on your wedding day.

Your wedding day doesn’t have to be a copy-and-paste event. It doesn’t have to be dictated by an industry or by someone else. You deserve to be unapologetically you on your wedding day so that you can feel most alive!

If it’s your time to plan your wedding day, do this one thing for yourself. Forget about what weddings look like, how they are planned and constructed. Think about what makes you feel most alive. What brings you so much excitement you want to shout to the universe? What would make you ask “How is this even real?” What would consume you with so much peace and joy that you don’t know whether you should cry or laugh?

That is what you plan for. That is the wedding you deserve to experience. When you’re ready, I’ll be here to help you plan and document this profound day.

-Jenn

There are so many ways to be true to yourself on your wedding day. To create moments that are for just you and your partner. It is your day after all.

Many couples get stuck with this part. How can create a day that is true to them? How can they create moments that allow the space for a private experience?

To do this you must FIRST, forget about all expectations and traditions. Who are you when no one else is looking? What makes you both feel loved, and connected? What brings you joy as a couple? What brings you peace?

Are you the adventurous type? Are you both big dreamers? Is there something you both love doing together?

These are the things to make a part of your special day.

Danielle & Keisha decided to get ready together on their elopement day. Some of their friends and family journeyed with them for their Denver elopement. This was a moment they wanted to share together though; just the two of them.

There are no rules on your wedding day. It is literally a celebration of YOU. No one else. Do what is most meaningful to you. You deserve to have these moments and spaces that make you feel truly seen, truly loved, and that you truly matter.

"To love is to rest" -Bridesmaid #3

These 5 words feel like a breath of rarest air. They are so impactful and shine the truest light. Their truth is what so many people fight for.

So many people fight to truly be seen. To have their voices actually heard. They fight to consume spaces where they feel like their inner soul matters. This is what love truly is. Whether that love comes from a family member, a friend, or a life partner. To love someone is to see them for who they truly are, to accept them for who they are, and to show them that who they TRULY are MATTERs. When you love someone this way, you allow them to finally rest. They no longer have to search and fight for a safe space.

How would you celebrate that day if you find someone you can rest with? What does being seen look like to you? What does a space that truly celebrates who you are as an individual and a couple look like?

For Fernando and Emily, it was having a smaller wedding. Surrounded by their closest friends and family. It was finding a venue that made them feel more than just content. There are many great venues out there, which one speaks to your soul?

They saw their floral creations come to life in their French Garden Venue. The colors were intentionally chosen because they represented who Emily and her best three friends are.

They shared their vows in private. Enjoying quiet time in a garden on their extraordinary day so that they could indeed rest.

They shared several moments of laughter as husband and wife as John Brewster filled the room with the sounds of his musical talents. He played at a coffee shop during their first date. Having him play on their wedding day was a beautiful full-circle moment.

They created a unique experience for their friends and family by having a silent disco. An evening spent dancing and laughing. To have people truly enjoying each other's company, even if that meant listening to different songs simultaneously.

Fernando & Emily spent their day just as they wanted. Everything chosen for that day was done so intentionally. There were no rules or expectations. This day represented who they truly are. This day was a day beyond contentment. This was a day of true celebration because their souls could now rest.

What would a true-to-you celebration look like? What represents you the most? Share one thing in the comments!

How do you plan a small wedding that incorporates some traditions but doesn't feel like an event? What would it look like? How would it feel?

Imagine this:

It's a breezy spring day. Flowers are in bloom. There's an energy to the air because days of warm sunshine have returned. You find yourself in your church. The windows were stained in vibrant colors, causing the colors to dance on the pews.

Sitting in a delicate arrangement are the pieces you hold near to your heart. Each piece represents something special; a part of you both. The vintage tile frames these pieces well, adding a little nod to your love of vintage items.

The delicate lace of your veil and dress lay elegantly; awaiting their turn to shine bright on this very special day.

In a room surrounded by your closest friends and family, you both take a vow. There are tears shed, softly being dabbed away by tissues. Soft smiles move across faces. Eyes filled up with tears, watching you both.

The rest of the day is filled with joy and laughter. Two families become lifelong friends. Hands are embraced, marveling at your beauty. There is a busy but quiet chatter from all those who mean the world to you. They celebrate you both and look back at how far you have come.

It was the perfect day because it was a day truest to you.

How would you plan a day true to you that kept some traditions? Which traditions would you keep? What would you want your day to look like, and feel like?

If you could get married anywhere-ANYWHERE, where would you go? What would you do? You don’t have to get married like everyone else is. Do you have a vision in your head and think to yourself, “gosh that would be neat”? Let me tell you…that vision, that dream you have, we can make a reality. There is no reason why you can’t get married in the way that you dream about.

For Danielle & Keisha it was Boulder, Colorado. They wanted their special day to be non-traditional. They wanted their day to feel more personal to them. They flew in from South Carolina to have their special in the Rocky Mountains.

Danielle & Keisha said their vows at Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder, CO. This spot was perfect for their vision. They had a few of their closest friends and family to witness this special moment. After their intimate ceremony, Danielle & Keisha got to take in the incredible views of Lost Gulch Overlook. This was around sunset. The sky was painted in beautiful shades of lavender and rose. The area was calm and quiet. There were very few visitors around. It was perfect for a simple, laid back elopement experience.

After taking some photos, they made their way down the mountain to join their guests at their air bnb. The smells of the most delicious food filled the air thanks to the hard work of their private chef. A beautifully decorated table awaited them and their guests. The rest of the evening was enjoyed by an intimate dinner with their guests.

This was the wedding experience that felt true to Danielle & Keisha. Don’t let the pressures and wedding trends interfere with your special day. Plan a day that YOU want. Let your mind run wild, don’t be afraid to dream! Never settle for an experience that isn’t true to you.

Our Story

Welcome! I am Jennifer Hughes, owner of Jennifer Hughes Photography. Thank you so much for visiting my page. I am very passionate about photography and helping people catch their story!

I am married with 3 wonderful children. My son has Autism and most times than not, does not like his picture getting taken. I have learned to work around this and capture his beautiful personality. This has helped me become a better photographer. Not every child likes to sit still and smile (not that I can blame them). With this concept in mind I bring more fun and action to my pictures. I love capturing moments as they are happening.

I first started JP Photography under my maiden name in Missouri. I have been capturing life's moments since I was 13. I have a wide range of experience in photography and am always learning more! April 2018, my family and I moved to North Dakota. I am excited to start a new journey here and capture life's moment in beautiful NoDak!

If you have any question please feel free to contact me!
