This is Doug! He is 85 and his birthday is in February. We chatted quite a bit during his breaks from modeling/posing for the workshop that the amazing put on! He said I reminded him of his niece and told me story after story about where he has traveled and lived. He was super sweet and animated when he was telling me about how he gardens all the time and that it fills his soul!

For those who don’t know, I have been in Grand Prairie, Canada for a photography workshop this past weekend. We (Alexa Kiel, my partner in crime and I) have had this planned for over a year and I have been anticipating it every day!

This is one of a handful of images I will be posting from what I learned over the past few days.

The workshop was led by an amazing visionary and extraordinary photographer in the photography world, Cass with ! We photographed all sorts of magical things: kids playing, a grandpa with his grandkids, cute baby ducks, playful kittens, and a kind man named Doug. Every moment felt special, and I learned so much from her.

I was also lucky enough to eat her husbands amazing food, meet her kids and her adorable and inspiring mother who gave us the worlds BEST fudge!!! If you like fudge make sure to get hers!!! (https://www.facebook.com/fudge2010/)

The way Cass captures people’s stories through her work is truly inspiring. She has this incredible talent for making every picture tell a story. Watching her work and learning from her was such a privilege. She shared so many tips and tricks about lighting, composition, and capturing genuine emotions. It really opened my eyes to new possibilities.

I can’t wait to put everything I learned into practice. Her passion and skill have sparked a new excitement in me. I hope to be able to capture people’s stories in my own way. This workshop was a real turning point for me, and I’m so grateful for the inspiration and knowledge I gained.
