Thank you Kurt for tipping me off about the very cool Colorado High School Cycling League racing weekend taking place this Sat/Sun out at the Fountain Valley School of Colorado.

This is the first time a race weekend has been held here in the Colorado Springs area, so it's a big deal for these high school racers. 9 teams from the Pikes Peak region will be represented!

If you've never been to this very unique school property, this would be an excellent opportunity as along with the racing they'll be giving tours of the campus. Google it and you'll see why this is cool.

Through a partnership with the Colorado High School Cycling League (Colorado League), Fountain Valley School (FVS) is pleased to host the inaugural Lazy B Ranch Rally high school mountain bike race from Friday, September 20, through Sunday, September 22, 2024.

We can't say enough great things about the Women's Mountain Biking Association of Colorado Springs - WMBA and this is just another reason why.

Tonight at the Trinity Brewing Forge Road location (not the main one!)

For all the women out there that enjoy riding and see events like this but just don't know how to get involved, or may be intimidated by the process, this is the team that'll guide you through successfully.

Have you heard about the grand opening of Stompin' Groundz on Saturday at 9:00am? It is the new, cool coffee house and community gathering space in Southeast COS and the dream of our dear friend Juelz Morse-Ramirez.

I've told her for 4 plus years that I was going to lead the first bike ride from her new cool coffee house and I woke up today and thought you know, I should lead the first fun bike ride TO her new space.

Juelz worked with Brandon when he opened up the Switchback Coffee Roasters Hillside location, so it is just too fitting to use that as a starting point. I will be there early to grab a little breakfast and a bit of coffee and I plan on rolling out at 8:00am for a relaxed ride down the PIkes Peak Greenway and up the Sand Creek Trail to arrive just before the 9:00am grand opening time.

It's supposed to be a nice Summer day, you should go for a coffee ride ;)

My plan is to hang out for the festivities for a bit and if there are a few folks that would like to do a Tour de Southeast spin and get a lay of the land for bike infrastructure, art, possibly pet a few dogs and feed a horse or two, I'd say we should seize the opportunity to do the first official ride from Julie's place :)

(This is not an official "event", there won't be a Facebook event page. I'm just inviting some friends who like to ride bikes to go for a casual ride to support a dear friend who has held tight to her dreams and has had a community rally around her in support. If you'd like to join us, I'd love to pedal a few miles with you.)

Thank you to Rich Heitman and the leadership of the Colorado Springs Cycling Club for hosting the Ride of Silence in Downtown Colorado Springs last night.

Even with the rain, it was a passionate group of advocates and crash survivors that rallied to memorialize all those who are not with us anymore because of tragic crashes and life-ending, or severe injuries suffered on our roadways.

We truly appreciate City Councilwoman Nancy Henjum for being able to deliver the proclamation from the Colorado Springs City Council and Mayor Yemi, and for joining us all for the ride.

Being able to share this memorial experience with William Dolphin and his daughter, along with a host of others that have been struck and injured by crashes highlighted how incredibly fortunate they were, and how much work still needs to be done.

An outstanding job was done by the motor officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department, they kept us safe and rolling silently, and without pause, for the 8+ mile solemn pedaling procession.

Please reserve the third Wednesday in May 2025 for the second annual COS Ride of Silence.

This Friday, March 1st the registration opens for the Grassroots Gravel event taking place on Saturday, October 12th in Pueblo.

My first digital act this Friday will be to register for this.

You should join me. I'll be staying the night on Saturday and we could make it a seriously fun Pueblo pedalin' weekend!

I should probably tell CeCe about this too, but I'm sure she'll figure it out :)
