In 1871, General William Jackson Palmer founded the city of Colorado Springs. His vision was to create a posh resort community featuring a luxury hotel and tree-lined boulevards. Thus, the first Antlers Hotel had begun welcoming guests in 1883. Nestled in the shadow of majestic Pikes Peak, the Antlers soon became the center of the community and the benchmark for future hotels. Over 100 years later

, the third rendition of our historic ancestor, The Antlers Hotel Colorado Springs still maintains its prominence as the hotel leader in Colorado Springs.

Tomorrow morning is the annual Western Street Breakfast in downtown Colorado Springs. More than 160 Pikes Peak Range Riders and others on horseback will ride through the downtown streets before embarking on their annual five-day ride around Pikes Peak. The breakfast and ride kick off the annual summer rodeo season.
Located directly across from The Antlers Hotel are two bronze statues. The bronze pair was created by artist Rusty Phelps, dedicated on July 23, 1988, and is a gift of the Pikes Peak Range Riders in appreciation of the community’s support of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo each summer and in celebration of our western heritage.
