The Great Room is the best spot for small parties, showers, reunions, and small weddijg ceremonies! 👰♀ 💍 Tables and chairs are included. Across the hall is a bathroom and small sink and prep table. Rentals are for the entire day, ending at midnight. We don't have required food vendors!

We are often asked about having alcohol in our rooms.
A permit is required for all events where alcohol is present. The fee is $51.70 and is due thirty before your event. A Van Buren staff will obtain this on your behalf.
We do not allow any outside alcohol to be brought in. All alcohol packages are purchased through the Van Buren. We can quote you for signature drinks, offer a cash bar, and more.
Some events, like larger events or ones with liquor, will require security and a bartender to serve. A Van Buren staff member will coordinate a bartender, but you will need to schedule security with the Columbia City Police Department. In addition, you are responsible for paying the bartender and security directly, and at their rate. We do not invoice for these services.

It's #FAQFriday! The Van Buren is one of the few venues that doesn't require specific vendors. This gives you the freedom to choose your favorite catering company, or bring your own food. While we can provide recommendations upon request, we do not require that you work with anyone specifically. The only exception is that alcohol must be coordinated with us.

Let's talk deals. We only have one consistent discount, and that is for neighboring days of a room. If you book a Saturday for a wedding, you'll sign your contract and pay your deposit. If you get within 30 days of your wedding and you decide that you want to book Friday to set up and Sunday to clean up, you'll get half off those day rates.
We HIGHLY recommend booking neighboring days when you know that you for sure want the day before and after your event. Sometimes, you decide to have that last minute add on, and that's what the discount is for! It's not recommended to wait, hoping for the deal, as someone else may book that date before you.
