Our hearts are still full and forever grateful for the Restorative Justice workshop held today Eau Claire Baptist Church. This workshop was led by Andy Broughton and The Messengers (John Allen present today).

So grateful to receive such richness and creativity while learning how to change our way of speaking, thinking, and communicating and adapt a restorative Justice mindset verses while speaking up and fighting against systems that oppress our people and label us (retributive Justice).

As always shout out to Kelly Strum and Koinonia of Columbia, Inc for bringing topics to the forefront of our hearts and engaging in healthy conversations that will help not only our households but our schools, churches, and communities.

To put the “cherry on the top” we at Spry’s Durty Kitchen had the privilege to provide a lite lunch for those in attendance. Providing a meal was great but the real joy and honor was to learn from a man who is Kingdom driven and who has dedicated his life’s work for over 30 years to help young people- not only by changing their behavior, but elevating their mindset and way of thinking.

Special thanks to Rita Dickerson for the extra set of hands in the kitchen today.

With school right around the corner my prayer is that Dolly’s House Clothing Ministry will be able to provide gently or new items for these beautiful young men and women.

To say we here at Spry’s Durty Kitchen had a time is an understatement; we had the time of our lives!

The morning began around 3am in the kitchen and served breakfast around 730am. By the grace of God there was food left over and it did not go to waste. On the way to fuel up before heading to Charleston, there was an older gentleman sitting on the side of the interstate. We felt compelled to stop and see if he was okay. To our surprise it was his birthday and he was hungry. You see how God worked things out. We didn’t know the extra food would be his birthday meal!

After fueling we headed to Charleston to have a dope trip with the Middle and High school scholars from Koinonia of Columbia, Inc. We want to thank Kelly Strum and Dave for the opportunity for our family and the overall experience.

ECBC (Eau Claire Baptist Church) Memories this was a trip for the books.

We will definitely be back to soak up more of the richness at the African American Museum in Charleston.
