Didn’t get around to a Christmas card again this year, so in modern day IG approach - I am wishing you a belated Merry Christmas and here is to a happy New Year!

2024 was full of simple joys and rhythms. Between the ordinary as well as wonderful days- there was always an upcoming adventure to look forward to, simple pleasures, lots of celebrations and overall gratitude for good health, my faith, our country, and the absolute joy of marriage + motherhood.

A favorite task of designing a clients wedding is tapping into what visually makes their heart and eyes happy. 😍

Are they a minimalist or maximalist?

Drawn to symmetry or asymmetry?

What color story feels like them?

What font styles speak them?

Are they drawn to gold or silver?

Prefer patterns, solids, or textured soft foods?
and on and on….

The differences via the preferences are what make each event unique, and in the end be a personal reflection of the couples own aesthetic.

Three fun facts about boutonniere’s…

The word “boutonniere” comes from the French word boutonnière, which means “buttonhole flower”

Every time I spell boutonniere on a timeline, I second guess my self. Often times I say “forget it!!” and just write ‘bout.

The most overused wedding day joke is for a grandpa or groomsmen to pretend I stuck them when I am pinning said ‘bout. In 20 years of pinning ‘bouts I’ve never stuck anyone, but have heard that joke a couple hundred times!😂

I love when a Bride decides to source a second dress. How lovely is this large stone fireplace in a historic bank, turned event venue?

This space use to be the board room - but now serves as a sweet escape from the ballroom for those who wish to sit + chat away from the dance floor. Are you someone who is on the dance floor the entire reception or prefer to find a place to be able to easily converse with friends and family?

I love the difference seasons bring to a wedding day environment. Late Fall + Winter weddings have a coziness that comes with them. The combination of the sun setting earlier, the candlelight flickering brighter, the chance to bring in textures like velvet or wool, and the opportunity to have guests welcomed to the reception with a lit fireplace.

Each season brings it’s own sweetness, be sure to lean into it - both in weddings and your life 🤍

It may have been a rainy wedding day, but Ali and her ladies brought all the color + cheer to Forest Lake Club.

Ali’s vibe was fun and refreshing right from the start, with her first email inquiry including a Pinterest board titled “Eloise at a 1998 Private Party at Garibaldi’s” - IYKYK, Garibaldi’s was a great restaurant in our home town, that is no more. Ali was inspired by photos of her parents birthday parties there in the 90’s, memories of wearing giant bows in her hair as a young girl to brunch with her Grandmother at the country club, and the classic vibe of ballroom glam. We had so much fun through the planning process of pairing quirk with classic details!
