With temperatures forecasted to reach the 90's by the end of this week, Howard County Police Department and Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services are reminding residents to NEVER leave a child or a pet alone in a car, not even for a minute. Rolling windows down or parking in the shade does little to change the interior temperature of the vehicle, and a parked vehicle can reach a dangerous temperature in just minutes. Always look before you lock.
Exciting news, Howard County! We recently launched our first-ever permanent public arts program, Arts for All, in partnership with The Howard County Arts Council. The goal of this program is to celebrate the role that art plays in our public spaces while supporting our unparalleled community of artists and local arts organizations that shape the creative fabric of our county.
Help shape our community spaces by sharing your thoughts on the types, themes, and locations of future art installations through our public survey, open throughout the summer at https://form.typeform.com/to/MTjwb50G. Let's collaborate and contribute to an even more beautiful community!

With drownings on the rise across the U.S., let's talk safety before we splash into summer at CA's outdoor pools tomorrow.
Here are some important reminders in light of this heartbreaking trend:
◾ Life vests are free at all CA pools (don't rely on floaties or water wings!). Ask a lifeguard to help find one that fits properly.
◾CA offers swim lessons for all ages and abilities, including three free swim lessons in June.
◾30 seconds - that's how quickly drowning can happen. Parents, please stay alert and off your phone when your child is in the pool.
