Guys the sun is shining and the temperatures are perfect. Feeling so grateful for a perfect summer day ☀️ Lauren’s hand painted wedding invitations were full of spring colors to match her inspiration. For the reception, we peppered in brighter, warmer colors to reflect the change in season from spring to summer. Good thing too, because it was a 🔥 one (hence the fan!) And of course, a close up of their custom seed packet es**rt cards, with seeds from their actual wedding/day florist!

Neo-classical garden vibes for Colette + Michael’s seating chart at . This Roman clay and plastered wall had impressions from dried flowers to reminisce the dried flowers on their invitation from and the beautifully tucked satin felt both trendy and timeliness. Morgan from finished it with a stunning garden installation… and voila 🌿

Composed: Air 🌬️ one year ago. Each part of this series has felt a little like translating an Alphonse Mucha painting into real life, but with the added goal of highlighting how it could be used for wedding inspiration. Thanks for stepping in as our model and floating through this airy wonderland.

It’s a *little* toasty out there today 💥 always a great reminder that if you’re getting married in the Midwest, the weather will do what 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 wants 👏🏻 (it was in the 90s on my wedding day, in October!) No one can control the weather, but If your guests are uncomfortable they’ll remember the way the felt, and even the smallest details can make a difference: shade, h20, and fans. Of course, you DO need to plan for weather, but you don’t have to sacrifice style, so look at it as a way to bring in attractive details that double as small comforts 🌿

Schools are out, pools are open! 💦 what better time to share images from from our “composed: water” workshop.
This workshop series is designed to give photographers a safe place to play and learn new techniques to carry over into wedding or product photography alike, and water was perhaps the most fun and most relatable. Ever have to capture a wedding day that was dark and rainy? It’s great to have practice so you can confidently and creatively work with the reality of your surroundings without being at the expense of the client.
Also, personally it is fun for me to design with creative freedom to play and to put intention in every detail. I could go on an on about each creative decision and how the vendors really made it it come to life, but I think these images speak for themselves!
ps: I could share a portfolio of each participants unique and beautiful way of capturing what we put before them (and I still may 🥹)

I love a photo with narrative. It’s a beautiful gift to see these moments on film, let alone to often be privy to these actual moments on wedding days. So simple, so monumental.

For a different kind of friday introduction, I thought I’d tell you about this very special woman you see pictured here with me, probably aged 3 or 4, and how she had a huge influence on my life and who I am as a creative. A few years ago I had an assignment to write a “heart story” for Auburn & Ivory and I chose to write about my neighbor, Betty Young. She recently passed away, and in remembrance of her I decided to publish that story to my blog. “Nature is pleased with simplicity” 🌿 We spent time at the Butterfly House in St. Louis and it had me remembering this beautiful, nature inspired wedding from a few years back. No detail was over the top, but the antique botanical prints, dried floral specimens for a seating chart, and heavenly scented beeswax candles gave each guest’s five senses something to delight in, much like nature itself.

The smallest details (miniature even) can make a huge impact. We wanted to illuminate Natalie + Fritz signature drinks (inspired by their favorite spot, ) after the lights went down 🍸 what better way to do so than with these perfect miniature lamps, meant for a dollhouse. We may have to make this a staple going forward… add in some gorgeous statement florals and the bar looked it’s best all night long.

Love Letters 💌 today is St. Valentines’s Day, a day for showing our love and devotion to the people who matter most. In a way, a wedding invitation feels a lot like a love letter. Come and join us in celebration as we seal our hearts together, til death do us part.
For Ruthie and Carlton, we worked with to include Ruthie’s Grandmother’s original artworks. We found ways to incorporate it throughout the day as an act of love and admiration, and I know it’s a detail they will forever cherish. Love on, friends. ❤️
