The Up Front Performance Space (UpFront) is a civic giveback from Shadowbox Live (SBX), the nation’s largest resident theater ensemble.

As part of SBX’s mission to engage and enrich its community, UpFront provides an opportunity for entertainers, storytellers, and advocates to courageously shape their craft and share their joy through the power of art.

Hey. Lemme talk at y'all.

It turns out but I'm not a punk, or wuss, or a procrastinator. Turns out that I'm not too lazy or too scared to actually apply myself and work up to my potential. Turns out that I have anxiety, and most of my life has been spent secretly trying to kick his ass all by myself.

And it turns out, I just can't do it anymore.

In 7 days, I'm going to do something I've never done before on a stage. I'm going to talk about myself. Not my work, not my characters.

Me.

So if you've watched me on stage for 20 years and are wondering why I don't do it every night anymore, come see. If your chest pounds or your stomach flips when you comprehend the unknown, Come listen.

!!!Audition Notice!!!

Hey Ohio theatre people, C.A.M.P.Y. Columbus! is seeking non-union funny pop/rock singers for an upcoming production of The Breakfast Club: The Totally 80's Musical! at The Upfront @ ShadowboxLive!

Bring a headshot/resume and prepare a pop/rock song in the style of the show.

Please note a pianist will not be provided, auditions will be done with youtube karaoke tracks.

In-person auditions will be held
Saturday, May 7th (11-1 pm) and Sunday, May 8th (4-6 pm)
@ Shadowbox Live (503 S. Front Street Columbus OH 43215)

please send videos before live auditions as you may be invited to a callback!

Show rehearses weekends in May and performs on June 2nd and 9th.

The Up Front Story

The founders of Shadowbox Live produced their first sketch comedy shows almost thirty years ago in the back room of a bakery. In those days, they were a rag tag group of independent artists driven by pure heart, a lot of grit and the determination to create something new on their own terms.

Today, as the largest resident theater in the United States, Shadowbox Live is a Columbus institution, with a professional theater company producing original live shows in the Rock Arts six days a week.
