Texas Women’s Outdoors is proud to partner with Fowler Hide Supply, a family-run business right here in Lubbock, Texas! Cameron and Drew Peters started their journey in their mom’s garage, driven by their love for leatherwork and the outdoors. Now, they’re crafting some of the most durable and unique gear you’ll find, including the dove and turkey totes our hunters love! They also make waterfowl lanyards, diaphragm call holders, and even have their own clothing line and hat merch 🙌 They are looking to add in some dog inventory soon, so keep your eyes peeled by following them!

Their passion shines through in every handmade piece, from the leather they carefully select to the hands that create gear built to last generations. Fowler Hide Supply is more than just a business—they’re a testament to hard work, creativity, and the power of small, family-run operations. We are incredibly grateful that we had time to stop by and visit with them during our yearly crane hunt in Tahoka!

Check out their products, like their dove totes that simplify field hunts and their turkey totes that make every harvest easier. Be sure to support this incredible Texas-based brand as they expand and continue serving the hunting community!

Feathered Forest Hunt Club never disappoints when it comes to providing Texas Women Outdoors with adventures. Our coordinator, Brandy, hosted seven ladies from various parts of the state for an upland adventure that included feathers, food, and fun. The day began with a mini session on upland gear and safety.

The hunt featured a European-style driven approach with a Texas twist, allowing the ladies to hunt over some remarkable canines while moving through a large high brush field. The day was filled with many "firsts"—including first-time hunters, first harvests, and their first upland hunt. The ladies successfully harvested 85% of their birds, including two melanistic pheasants.

After the hunt, they learned how to process and preserve the pheasants. The day concluded with wine tasting and a charcuterie spread, filled with laughter and feather crafts.

Stay tuned for our upcoming upland hunts in February and March, along with an upland retreat planned for June. You may even find some upland information at our retreat!

From the breathtaking wingspan of a snow goose to the wary eyes of sandhill cranes, this Texas Women’s Outdoors hunt was filled with memories and learning! We spent the day IDing waterfowl on the fly, discussing ways to age sandhill cranes by their feathers, and exploring everything from firearm safety to cooking techniques. For the harvest, we saved the hearts, legs, and breasts, chatting about the perfect recipes for wild game feasts. Fun facts: sandhill cranes, often called ‘ribeye of the sky,’ can live over 20 years and are known for their amazing eyesight and distinctive red crown. Unlike most birds, they roost in water, and we target them in fields for their love of seeds from crops like milo and cotton. These sharp-eyed, finicky birds challenged us, but with our layout blinds brushed in with tumbleweeds, we were ready. Special thanks to Beretta for the A300 Ultimas and Caprock Waterfowl for being amazing guides on this unforgettable hunt!

The ladies of TWO had a fantastic opener of big ducks. Ironically enough, 90% of the harvest was blue wing teal. There were a couple of green wing teal, and a couple of spoonbills. What we thought was going to be a very wet sit because of a storm coming off the Gulf, ended up being a beautiful day. Ducks were working in and out of the decoys well before shooting light but we just sat on our hands enjoying the morning. Of all of the groups that hunted out of CFO this morning, our ladies were the only group who limited out. While we never wish a bad hunt for anyone, I’m glad the girls proved better than the boys. All thanks to Central Flyway Outfitters, Will, Josh, Jonathan, Patty and Mary for making this one of the best weekends of the year. We’ll see you next year!

"Meet The TWO Team Monday"

Hey there!!

My dad was a single father and raised me since I was about 5 years old. I grew up on a deer lease and a lake pretty much. I started out as my dads bird dog as soon as I could walk lol From there he taught me firearm safety, which led to hunting, fishing, camping, and always doing something together outdoors. August of 2011 I lost him to cancer. Life flipped me upside down quickly. But the outdoors, became my therapy. I found that being outside was what I needed to keep moving forward and I still am!

I finally finished college (2015) 🤪, I have a bachelors degree in Wildlife Management and a minor in Biology. I was a Park Ranger for the US Army Corps of Engineers for over 5 years. I loved it! When I became a mom I realized that the schedule (late nights, weekends, and holidays) just wasn’t for a mom especially when dad has an even more complicated work schedule. So we decided I’ll be a stay at home mom. As I was trying to figure out motherhood and being home more, I realized it was much harder than i thought. I missed the outdoors, people, and my time. So, I reached out on my personal facebook back in early 2021 and asked if any ladies wanted to go camping with me.

Hence that’s how TWO got started and has blossomed beyond what I had ever expected! It started totally by accident, but so blessed it’s here and growing!

Now that my babies are a little older, I’m able to get out in the outdoors more often, and I love to join other like minded ladies along the way. I have found that sharing my passion for the outdoors is more than just filling my heart, it also empowers women!

See you on an adventure!

11/01/2024

This past weekend, we volunteered with Operation Orphans for a memorable all-girls youth hunt at Camp Gene Ashby in Mason, Texas. This was more than just a hunt—it was a chance to pass down essential skills and values to the next generation. Since 1960, Operation Orphans has provided underprivileged youth with transformative outdoor experiences, using hunting and fishing to build their self-confidence, resilience, and respect for nature. For many of these young girls, this was a rare and powerful opportunity to be part of the outdoors and learn hands-on what it means to be responsible stewards of our natural resources.

Hunting teaches vital skills, but it also instills patience, respect for wildlife, and an appreciation for where food comes from. Our team of 10 Texas Women’s Outdoors volunteers was proud to help these young hunters take a step toward independence and self-sufficiency, offering mentorship and guidance in a safe, supportive setting.

Preparing for this event took weeks of behind-the-scenes effort by the amazing volunteers at Operation Orphan. Every volunteer dedicated time away from family and work to make it possible, knowing how impactful this experience would be for each participant.

The weekend was challenging, yet, when 33 hunters harvested 32 animals—whitetail, axis, and aoudad—they weren’t just bringing protein back to camp; they were bringing back a newfound confidence and a connection to the land. By learning how to hunt ethically, these young girls gained skills that promote responsibility and self-reliance, ensuring that they leave with memories and life lessons that will shape them well beyond this weekend.

Thank you to Operation Orphans and the amazing host ranches who played a role in making this event happen. If you are interested in making donations or being a guide, please visit the website and email Bryan Clemons at: [email protected]

"Meet The TWO Team Monday"

I grew up as a rodeo farm kid that at the age of 30 sold all of my horses and bought a beach house…as I tell everyone I traded 💩 for sand…I have always been competitive by nature so naturally I became bored…well my husband was an avid shotgun competitor and I had just started teaching at a private Christian school (I taught HS Ag for 15 years in public and private education) and the kids wanted a shotgun team, so I started going to coaching classes. My actual shooting started by meeting Larry Feland at a local charity tournament and one thing led to another and I was in his Gunsmithing shop and he was building me a custom gun that I could lift. I was born with a brachial plexus injury to the right shoulder thanks to doctor malpractice which left me with no use of my right arm, I have had multiple surgeries and have about 30% mobility now. I am now many years and guns into my shooting experience. I was on the USA para-trap team from 2019-2022 where I competed all over the World and was very fortunate to win many World medals. My favorite thing to do is teach youth, women, and people with impairments how to shoot. I am an NSCA & NRA level II shotgun instructor, also have many youth shotgun/archery organization certifications. The students I have coached have also won $100,000’s in scholarships & prizes. I have had the pleasure to coach some of the top youth athletes in the US as well as opened the door to a life-long passion for many women. I also dabble in hunting as I live on our family high fence ranch where we raise axis, fallow, and whitetail but I absolutely love to hunt many species of birds. Most recently I became the owner of LadyShooter LifeStyles magazine; a girlfriends’ lifestyle guide to all things pew pew. I look forward to being your fi****ms coordinator and making sure your firearm becomes your bestfriend.
