This is a new skill set for me: Managing a construction project👷🏻♀️
I’ve been working with a friend’s company to help open an adult daycare in Concord. In order to comply with the City/State’s building codes for an adult daycare, we’ve had to make some updates to the building.
We hired an architect who helped us determine what is needed to be compliant. He worked with the us and the City’s code enforcers and created a plan for the building. Now we have a contractor who is in the space doing the work with their subcontractors (plumbing and electrical).
In addition to this, I’ve also been helping with the licensing process, which is another area that I’m unfamiliar with.
However, when it comes down to it, it’s really all just Project Management. I’ve spent my career as an Event Planner/Manager, which also is basically Project Management (but with flare!) And I’ve managed many other projects throughout my career, though they were mostly related to arts, DEI initiatives, etc. But I guess a project is a project and managing them - whether it’s art or construction or licensing - the basic skills are the same.
Still, I prefer events and arts related projects, but I am always grateful for new experiences and learning opportunities.
American Independence Festival, July 13, 2024
In two weeks, on July 13, this space will resemble life in the 18th century, as we celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of the Declaration of Independence to New Hampshire in 1776 at the 34th American Independence Festival. The event is 10am-4pm in downtown Exeter, NH and is free to attend thanks to event sponsor, Service Credit Union.

Yesterday, I attended the Saraswati Puja presented by the International Nepali Literary Society of New Hampshire. I was honored to be invited as a special guest, but I didn't know that they would invited me to sit on the dais as a distinguished guest, and I definitely didn't know that I would be honored with a recognition for my support and generosity.
As I have been struggling through the troubles in our world, trying to figure out my role and responsibility in making a difference, I have decided to focus on bringing people together to connect in positive ways, embracing our differences and celebrating our similarities.
The Hindu/Nepali/Bhutanese/Indian community embodies these values every day, as a way of life. We can learn a lot from them.
I am deeply grateful for this community, and for all that I've learned over the years since I started doing this work. Many thanks to all of you who inspire me and enable me to do my part to make the world a better place 🙏🏽

I happened to be at the Concord Public Library last night for an event, so I made sure to visit the Mosaic 250 panels. I forgot how stunning they are in person! So shiny - especially the Capitol Dome. This was such a fun project - bringing these panels around to community events and groups for nearly 10 months to create the gift to the City of #ConcordNH for the 250th anniversary. 💛
Site tour for a #walkathon - I was a little early so I just sat and soaked up the morning sun until my client arrived ☀️☀️☀️
Check out the NH Hears Walkathon on Sunday, September 16, 10am at Rollins Park. A local family is organizing the fundraiser to help people in #NH who are deaf and hard of hearing. Proceeds benefit Northeast Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Inc. www.NHHears.org

“After reviewing many candidates, you were selected above the others because we could tell you have a passion for your community and you like to share that passion with others. As a passionate and well-connected member of your community, I’m sure you’re ready to share stories and information that have an effect on your community.”
So stoked to start writing for Concord NH Patch!
🎊 Happy New Year 🎊

Yesterday was #LoveATreeDay and I had every intention of posting about it. However, I went out to take some photos and ended up loving the trees and the gorgeous day a little too much, and the day escaped me☀️☀️☀️
