L.M. Townsend Catering, Cooperstown, NY’s top caterer, is seeking a qualified head chef. This is a rare opportunity offering competitive pay with the option to work hourly (weekends only as the banquet chef) or include prep time during the week for a salary of up to $1400/week. A signing bonus is available. Immediate start preferred.

This is a temporary position through 2022. However, the right person will be well-positioned for the possible opportunity of taking over the banquet facility in the future or lease as a base for catering on and off-premise in the Cooperstown area.

Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum three to five years of experience in quantity banquet food production in an upscale hotel, free-standing restaurant, or catering establishment.
Education: Ability to read, write and communicate English. A culinary degree from a recognized culinary institute, or equivalent experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certificates: Servesafe
Skills: Must possess excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food production techniques; thorough knowledge and understanding of kitchen equipment use and operation; and outstanding leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
Computer skills; Microsoft Word, knowledge of Excel helpful.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds.
Description: Oversee and prep menu items. Finalization of meal preparations, both on- and off-site. Thorough knowledge of grilling and meat butchering. Baking skills are helpful. Oversee kitchen staff and direct in food preparation. Inventory all goods and preparation of weekly vendor orders. Assist and oversee packing menu items for events, including any mis-en-place needed for final off-site cooking. Develop a schedule and oversee cleaning of the kitchen and banquet facility.
Availability Requirements: Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Dependable transportation is required for possible early mornings and late nights.
Valid driver’s license required for driving company van and rental trucks.
Signing bonus, hourly wage, and/or salary commensurate with skill and experience.
Start date: Immediately

Servers needed for July 23rd for Induction Weekend Parties. It's a fun evening for baseball lovers! No experience is needed, but servers must be neat and friendly. The job involves unloading supplies, setting up food stations, and busing to keep things neat.

$18 per hour includes a $3 per hour tip. Additional tips are added by MLB teams.

We had a lot of fun cooking for you and we would love to cater your events large or small in the future. However the event season is heating up, dining in restaurants is a reality for more people now, and so we are going back to focusing on catering and event planning. Our History

L.M.TOWNSEND CATERING began with a dream back in 1978 when owner Lucy Townsend graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in art and embarked on a career in food service leading her from a job cutting and weighing cheeses in a gourmet shop, to employment ranging from chef aboard a hotel boat on the River Thames, to salad girl for a family owned restaurant, kitchen manager at a bistro, and manager of a Rockefeller Center restaurant.

Lucy began work on her own catering business in 1989 in Cooperstown, NY and some of her first clients remain loyal to this day. Although corporate functions and wedding receptions comprise a large part of sales, Townsend Catering is also expert at providing services for private dinners, cocktail parties, brunches and barbecues. Full event and wedding planning services are also offered with referrals for event locations, rentals, music, flowers, and more.

Today, Lucy's offices and business are situated at Templeton Hall, a banquet facility located in the center of charming Cooperstown, NY. Templeton Hall itself is an historic building constructed in 1832, built originally as a church, with a convenient location within walking distance of most lodging and convenient to the trolley stop.

Full services at Templeton include dining space for up to 100 guests, bar services, handicapped accessibility and restroom facilities, plus tables, chairs, glassware, linens, silverware and china for your event. Townsend Catering runs both on-site and off-premise events from this location, and services the Syracuse and Oneonta areas as well.
