Hello Oregon Wrestling Community.

As we get ready to kick off another wrestling season, I wanted to take a moment to alert you to some changes for this year. As some of you may know, Trackwrestling was bought out by Flo Wrestling. The new owners are working on a way to somehow combine the two platforms over the next 1-3 years. In an effort to help with the transition to come, USA Wrestling has developed their "USA MEMBERSHIP SYSTEM" to now aid with the pre-registration of both trackwrestling and Flo Wrestling tournaments. Wyoming and Wisconsin have spent the last year trailing this process for USA Wrestling and Trackwrestling. Oregon will now follow these states in moving to this pre-registration process. Please be aware that there will be many tournaments this season that you will need to log into your USA Membership account in order to pre-register for some trackwrestling tournaments. Failure to pre-register through the membership system may result in your wrestler needing to pay the higher on site registration fee. Your Wrestlers will be required to have their USA wrestling card or a picture of their card on their cell phone for weigh ins as we will be using a bar code scanner at the scales and weights will be entered at the scale. Wrestlers will need to come ready for weigh ins in their competition singlet or shorts/T-shirts. Due to limited space in the weigh in areas, parents are encouraged to wait for their wrestlers outside of the weigh in area as this will allow faster movement through the weigh in area.

Tonight 6:00pm! First club practice. We are so excited to collaborate with coaches from all over the Oregon coast to help all of our wrestlers get to the next level!

Mats are down, first practice and team registration tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6pm. Looking forward to the coastal wrestling community taking things to the next level. We have some great clinicians coming in later this year, coaches from throughout the community are welcome and encouraged to come in and collaborate.

The Oregon Coast Wrestling Academy is hosting the 17th annual Beach Wrestling State Championships on July 2nd at Bastendorff Beach in Coos Bay. We need the help of our community to make this tournament a success and keep it here in Coos Bay.

Here is a list of things we need for the tournament:

2x 72.5 ft Ropes at least 1.5” thick (for the wrestling circles)
6x 6ft folding tables
18x folding chairs (or camping chairs)
4x pop up canopies (the ones with the sides preferred. The ones without sides can work.
Lots of bottled water (to rinse face after match)
10 red and 10 blue ankle bands
Concession items

Congratulations to Bryson Harvey placing third at the Southern Oregon Middle School Wrestling Regionals and punching your ticket to the Middle School State Tournament next weekend! Also congratulations to Ryker Pruett Campion at the Southern Oregon Middle School Wrestling Regionals qualifying him for the Middle School State Tournament also. Brody Cross and Christian Woodrum were both only a match away from qualifying. Trayton Forbes, Traiven Karow, Aaron Sinnott and Coleman Yates all wrestled well today! It is so hard ending our junior high season so early here on the coast then competing to qualify for state 2 months later.
