As a business owner, if yesterday taught me anything, it was that Checkerberry's doesn't have a set plan for an emergency. Every business should have a plan for not only a tsunami, but fire and whatever else mother nature throws at us. I will be working on that standard operating procedure. That said, my employees did what needed to done, left for higher ground and after the cancellation of the warning, they were back and it was business as usual. You can say that yesterday was a non event and I am thankful for that, but I think it was a good reminder of what needs to be in place in your business and with your family so we will all be better prepared for the next one.

Checkerberry's Flowers & Gifts is in search of an EXPERIENCED FLORAL DESIGNER to work the holiday season. This is NOT a position for people wanting to learn the craft because you "think it would be fun" or you "always wanted to".
Desired candidate needs to be experienced with the following;
Building floral arrangements in vases, baskets and similar containers.
Funeral, Wedding and everyday arrangements.
Ability to reproduce a pictured arrangement with a flower list.
Deadline and time oriented work.
Miscellaneous floral housekeeping duties, ie flower cleaning, floor cleaning and bucket duty.
This position is 24 to 40 hours a week with occasional Saturdays and wage is based on experience. This is a seasonal position but could work into something more permanent.

Checkerberry's is a single location full service florist open 6 days a week providing high quality floral arrangements for all occasions. We are a busy shop but time flies here because we are having fun at what we do.
If you think you have what it takes to work in the crazy world of flowers, bring in your resume and your best smile to our shop at 1290 N Bayshore Drive in the Coos Bay Village. A hands on skills test will be given to selected candidates as part of the hiring process, so you can show us what you know.
