We are all saddened by this tragic news. Sending prayers for her son and family.

News has just arrived of the tragic passing of our beloved board member Miek Egberts. Miek was involved in a fatal accident that has left her teenage son Federico in a coma. As soon as more details come to hand we will share them but in the meantime our hearts are with Miek’s family and daughter Catharina and our prayers are for the recovery of her son. May she rest in peace.

𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃! The Port of San Diego and The Brigantine, Inc. have completely transformed one of San Diego’s most iconic waterfront sites. The Brigantine’s Portside Pier officially opened this July, and we recently had the opportunity to tour the space. It is beautiful!!

The Pier includes various public access features, as well as four dining concepts: Brigantine Seafood Restaurants (fresh, delicious seafood, including their signature oyster bar), Miguel's Cocina Mexican Restaurants (authentic Mexican), Ketch Grill & Taps (casual pub fare with craft beers and spirits), and Portside Coffee & Gelato (for a little pick me up!).

We’ve visited the beach, but now let’s paddle out into the water!

📍𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 8 - 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫

San Diego is a mecca for every watersport you can imagine! Watersports are a great way to spend time with family and friends, and get some fresh air outside. The bay and ocean provide endless space for some of our favorite activities: stand up paddleboarding (SUP) or jetskiing (for the athletes), sailing or pontoon boating (for those who want to relax), and flyboarding (for the thrill seekers)! ⛵️

Whichever sport you choose, San Diego provides the perfect backdrop to do it in, whether you are just learning, or a seasoned water sportsman – just be sure to wear your sunscreen! ☀️

We stopped here briefly on our tour of San Diego beaches, but let’s head back, kick off our flip flops and stay for a while!

📍𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 7: 𝐋𝐚 𝐉𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚

Surrounded on three sides by ocean bluffs and beaches, La Jolla is one of the most upscale and gorgeous spots in all of San Diego. The area, built in the late 1800s, is now home to many educational and research facilities, including UCSD - University of California San Diego, Salk Institute, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and the Scripps Research Translational Institute. 🐠

La Jolla Cove, one of the most well-known attractions in La Jolla, is a favorite spot for swimming and snorkeling, with its crystal-clear water, and abundance of marine life. It is also home to the local seal and sea lion population (which you can smell from a mile away!).

𝙃𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧, 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮!
🎨La Jolla was once deemed an art colony – a look and feel that remains today, with a number of high-end galleries in the area, as well as yearly art festivals.
🎭When combined with San Diego, the La Jolla Playhouse (co-founded by actor Gregory Peck) has sent more show to Broadway than any other city in America, even NYC!
🍷The area has a thriving art and music scene, along with shopping and restaurants for every taste.

📍𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 6: 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲

Just up the road from Downtown San Diego is North County – including the areas of Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, and Solana Beach, among others. Beach culture is prominent in these areas, and many of the region’s beaches, wetlands and lagoons are protected areas to help ensure the environment remains pristine for years to come! The beaches are sandy with tide pools and rocky reefs, often lined with dramatic cliffs.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤? Surf’s up! Check out Swami’s Beach in Encinitas to catch some waves at the internationally known 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠 mecca. More of a land lover? North County contains 40 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬, including the world famous Torrey Pines Golf Course, which hosted the 2008 US Open. As surf culture is prominent, so is 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. Del Mar is home to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, one of the most famous racetracks in the world. North County is also home to San Diego’s only MICHELEN-Starred restaurant: 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 at The Grand Del Mar.

One of the great things about San Diego is its close proximity to the beach, the mountains, and the desert – all of which can be visited in a single day!

📍𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 5: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭

Just two hours northeast of the city lies Palm Springs, a desert oasis of year-round sunshine, luxury resorts, endless outdoor recreation, shopping, dining and art & music festivals. With more than 500,000 pools, Palm Springs can boast that it has more pools per capita than anywhere else in the country! Greater Palm Springs is also home to more than 100 golf courses, earning it the unofficial title of “Golf Capital of the World”. Palm Springs is a great destination for groups in Southern California!

Directly east of San Diego, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a world apart from the city and coast. California's largest state park protects 600,000 acres of desert terrain, including dramatic badlands, cool palm oases, slot canyons, and cactus-lined slopes. On your way into the park, you can’t miss artist Ricardo Breceda’s 130 enormous metal sculptures. They depict prehistoric animals that once roamed this land, such as a saber-tooth cat, as well as an assortment of mythical creatures, including a 350-foot-long serpent.

Today, we cross over the iconic bridge and drop down into , a sleepy seaside town just south of San Diego.

📍𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 4: 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐨 – 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘭 𝘋𝘦𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘰 & 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘰 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘦

, “the Crown City”, was created in the late 1800s as a resort community. The “island” (really an island with a tombolo) is accessible from San Diego by land, but is more often accessed by using the 2.12 mile long, 200 feet high Coronado Bridge. About 700,000 vehicles cross this bridge 𝙙𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮!

The Hotel Del Coronado (“𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘭” 𝘵𝘰 𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘴) has graced the coastline just south of San Diego since the late 1800s. One of the most ornate and beautiful resorts in the area, the Victorian-style hotel has hosted many celebrities over the years, including Marylin Monroe (“Some Like It Hot!” was filmed here), and 10 US Presidents. The Hotel and its beach is one of our favorite spots to host private events for our clients!

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬:

⭐️The 1.5 mile long beach has a silvery white sheen because of the presence of mica, a shimmery mineral that washed down from mountains in Mexico.

⭐️Ronald Reagan was the first person to drive over the landmark San Diego-Coronado Bridge when it opened in 1969.

⭐️The spectacular overpass has received the “Most Beautiful Bridge” Award by the American Institute of Steel.

The heartbeat of every city lives in its downtown, and San Diego is no exception. Balboa Park (then known as “City Park”) has been around since the 1860s, with its major improvements and beautification taking place in the early 1900s. Prior to the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, the Park was renamed after Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the first European to spot the Pacific Ocean while on exploration in Panama. Today, the Park is home to more than 17 museums, theatres, gardens, restaurants and cafes, shops, and the World Famous San Diego Zoo.

Today, we honor the nearly 3,000 beautiful souls we lost on 09/11, and reflect on the selfless sacrifice of our first responders.

Today, we celebrate #𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐃𝐚𝐲, to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment, which granted American women the constitutional right to vote. The passage of the 19th Amendment was the culmination of a 72-year peaceful civil rights movement that had its formal beginnings in 1848, at the first women’s rights convention in New York. It is only fitting that decades later, in 1971, Congresswoman Bella Abzug of New York introduced a resolution to designate this day as Women’s Equality Day, and ensure that it would be recognized each year.

As a woman-owned business, we remember and commemorate the efforts of those groundbreaking activists who have paved the way for us, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of women, and we will continue to stand and fight for equality of ALL people. 💪🏼

In honor of #𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐉𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐃𝐚𝐲 yesterday, here is one featuring our very own fearless leader, Debbie Ibey!

Debbie was about 2 hours from San Diego (𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘵, 𝘯𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘵), when she was flagged down by a man whose truck had broken down.
The man walked up to the car, and asked, “Are you going to San Diego?”
Debbie smiled and said, “I am! Do you need a lift?”
The man replied, “Not for me. I’ll be spending the next three hours fixing my truck. My problem is I’ve got two 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐞𝐞𝐬 in the back, which have to be taken to the San Diego Zoo. They’re a bit stressed already, so I don’t want to keep them on the road all day. Could you possibly take them to the zoo for me? I’ll give you $100 for your trouble!”

Debbie, always willing to go above and beyond, said sure!
The chimpanzees were ushered into the backseat of her car, carefully strapped into their seat belts, and off they went.

Five hours later, the truck driver got his truck fixed and was driving through the heart of San Diego, when suddenly he was horrified!
There was Debbie, walking down the street, holding hands with the two chimps, much to the amusement of a big crowd!

With a screech of brakes, he pulled off the road, and ran over to her. “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦?” he demanded. “I gave you $100 to take these chimpanzees to the zoo!”
“Yes, I know you did”, said Debbie. “But we had money left over, so now we’re going to Sea World San Diego!"

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Client Services Manager works closely with the client after booked to ensure successful ex*****on of their program.
• Detailed communication with Sales Team for smooth transition from start of program to completion.
• Detailed communication with Hotel Convention Service Team for flawless ex*****on of each program.
• Professional and detailed communication with client.
• Supplier communication, contracts and invoicing.
• Coordination and communication of staff needs for each program element.
• Prepare detailed staff assignment sheets for every element of the program.
• Communication with finance department regarding client and supplier deposits and final invoices.
• Coordination of all transportation needs.
• Coordination of all manifest detail.
• Monitoring all flight and ground transportation.
• Coordination of all timelines for all production elements involved in each program.
• Reviewing final billing with sales manager and client.
• Review and approve timecards for all staff on each program.
• Closing out each operational file by reviewing and detailing all program expenses.
• Assist Sales Managers with client site visits.
• Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
1. 1-2 years’ event planning experience
2. 1-2 years’ experience in the DMC industry preferred
3. 4-year degree strongly preferred
4. Ability to multitask effectively and efficiently in a time-sensitive environment
5. Ability to work independently with minimal instruction, as well as in a team environment
6. Detail oriented and resourceful, with an ability to make a decision when required
7. Strong interpersonal and management skills
8. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
10. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 20 lbs
11. Able to handle prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
12. Able to handle prolonged periods of standing with occasional walking
13. Ability to squat, kneel, and crouch
14. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
