We will miss Liam so much.
Liam Daniel Benavides
October 8, 2009 – September 2, 2024
On September 2, 2024, our sweet boy, Liam Daniel Benavides, went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Our hearts are broken, but we find comfort in knowing that Liam is rejoicing in heaven. He was born on October 8, 2009, in Corpus Christi, Texas to his parents, Daniel Noel Benavides and Meagan Raquel Esquivel Benavides.
Liam will forever be remembered and loved by his parents and his three younger brothers, Luke Paul Benavides, Jonah Salvador Benavides, and Charlie Jeremiah Benavides. Liam was cherished by his grandparents, Salvador and Rachel Esquivel, and Humberto and Sista Benavides, and deeply loved by countless family and friends.
Liam was truly special. His joy was felt by anyone he encountered. Liam’s faith was the foundation of his life. It was his greatest joy to worship in church and to hear the Word of God be proclaimed. Liam was the type of young man who, despite his youth, lived with wisdom and kindness far beyond his years. He was a loving son, a protective older brother, and a devoted grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Liam was a freshman at Tuloso Midway High School. He was an amazing actor, musician, and most importantly, a devout follower of Christ. He was a Speech and Debate State Champion, an accomplished percussionist, being the only 8th grader to be in the Tuloso Midway High School Marching Band and the only freshman to make it to the snare line. He also played in the Jazz Band and was a guitarist for Los Guerreros, his middle school mariachi band. He led many roles in various plays for theater at his school. He was also a junior usher at his church. Liam’s dedication, positivity, and contagious smile were impossible to ignore. He made a lasting impact at Tuloso-Midway ISD, his home church, New Life at the Cross, and his community.
In July 2024, Liam attended the Master’s Camp in Leakey, Texas, where he was profoundly impacted and called to ministry. When he returned, he was completely transformed, and on a mission to share the love of Jesus Christ with anyone and everyone that would listen. He became known for carrying his Bible to school every day, asking classmates how their day was, and then reading scripture to them. He was unapologetic in his Faith. He lived by the quote, “I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody who can save anybody.”
We believe Liam was only meant to be in our lives for 14 years. While this will always be hard to accept, we know our boy was so special that God needed him home now. His dream was for all of his family and friends to know the one true God, whom he is now in the presence of. Live like our boy. Live like Liam. Because to live like Liam was to live like Christ.
A celebration of Liam’s life will be held at New Life at the Cross on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 PM that same evening at New Life at the Cross Church, located at 4176 FM 1694, Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at New Life at the Cross Church, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Live Like Liam Fund, which will help send youth to the summer camp where Liam’s life was forever changed.
