Our organic basmati rice from India, grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, which costs 3x more than generic conventional rice.
But the taste, texture and aroma are incomparable.
We do not use a rice cooker because, while it takes more time and requires skill, flame cooked rice tastes better and has the energy of the fire in it. Living in a city and modern world, we are already saturated with excessive electromagnetic energy and frequencies. Adding electrical energy to our food disturbs the natural energy of the food we are consuming.

Why: Did you know that Dal is the primary source of protein in the Indian Vegetarian Diet? Learning to make delicious, digestible Dal quickly and easily is an important part of plant-based eating. Whether you eat vegetarian or you're just looking to increase plants in your diet, dal is always one of the first steps.
What: We will be introduced to many different spices, and several common spice combinations for a delicious Dal -- from the simplest to more complex flavors. We will make at least 3 different flavors of dal in this one hour class.
How: Sign up on our Online Ordering page. We will send Zoom instructions and necessary ingredients, for those that are cooking along, before the class.
What you need:
- Dal/Lentils of your choice.
- Spices you'll need: Cumin, corriander, turmeric, mustard seeds, ginger, curry leaves, cardamom, jaggery, tamarind, dal masala, garam masala, hing, chile, salt
You are welcome to buy the organic dal and spices from us and pick it up on Sunday at our weekly meal pick-up.
