Zombie and Wilbur are curious little skinny pigs (aka hairless guineas), so keeping them entertained is important for their health & happiness! Giving them all kinds of enrichment keeps them guessing & is great for their minds. Stacking cups filled with delicious treats is not only entertaining for them, but it’s rewarding as well! If you listen closely, you can hear them communicating. These squeaking and chirping sounds tell us that they are happy and enjoying life. It’s music to our ears 🐹
Enrichment is so important for animals, especially in captivity. In Baby Yoda’s natural environment, he would have the freedom to dig for grubs, burrow in dark places, & move around freely. So here’s what we’ve done for Baby Yoda to give him as much enrichment as possible.
• He has a dig box that we fill with meal worms & other delicious grubs everyday. He LOVES meal time, it’s always an adventure!
• He has a burrow box filled with shredded paper, which he enjoys emptying & reloading often. He’s quite the mess maker when it comes to his paper 🤣 but most of the time, you’ll find him sleeping in there, completely camouflaged.
• He has a hide box that we drape with a fleece blanket, imitating a small cave. He also loves to wrap himself in the blanket, clamping onto it when he’s in a ball.
• He has toys of all sorts that he loves to “attack”. We often DIY toys & hide treats inside that he has to work for to get, just like in the wild.
• His enclosure gives him plenty of room to run around, stretch his legs & get lots of exercise.
Baby Yoda is happy, and that’s what we want!
