**Update** We’ve got it stabilized and Craig Botetourt is going to try to replace the poles on Monday… Oh and my dad stopped by to check out all of the excitement 😉

Just wanted to make sure all of my neighbors are aware that a power pole has broken off in the field in front of the house and a second is about to break. The power is on for now and Craig Botetourt is on their way. Fill those bathtubs with water! This might take a while!

Last night on the Merry Go Round couples cam at Lane Stadium! Chad and Emily! Chad and Emily got hitched at the farm over a decade ago and they haven’t aged a day! Congrats guys!

Best of luck to our man, Lucas, as he ships off to boot camp with the US MARINES today! Lucas, a 2022 Alleghany High School graduate, spent the summer helping out around the farm before his scheduled October departure date. I must’ve bragged about how hard of a worker he was to the wrong person and Uncle Sam got word and surprised him and took him five weeks early! Proud to have him representing our country and our community!

Today is the end of the season for the peonies. Originally planted by my great great grandmother around the time the house was built in 1880. They typically bloom in the weeks surrounding Memorial Day and offer lush green foliage until around this time of year. Today I will cut the stalks down to about 3” tall and look forward to the red shoots coming up through the soil to let me know Spring has officially sprung in about 5 months!
