Many activities mark the start and end of the season for the club. Opening Day in the spring, followed by numerous social events and activities throughout the summer to keep members connected. Our Race Committee has active participation with races taking place two nights a week and social dinners to follow. There are Club Cruises, re-instated in 1979, offering an opportunity for boaters of all kin

ds to cruise together for a week or more, exploring Narragansett Bay or surrounding areas in Massachusetts or Conneticut.

Today EYC held its annual Up From The Ashes Sunfish Regatta, commemorating the fact that the EYC Frozen Few Sunfish Fleet was back on the water the Sunday following the January 2011 fire that destroyed the 1908 EYC clubhouse and, with it, much of the fleet's gear. The fleet relied on borrowed and shared equipment to sail in a non-standard race format then, and the Frozen Few Race Committee repeats that with non-standard races for this event each year. Congratulations to Faye for winning the regatta, followed by Gary in second and Bill in third.

Last night, we held the first EYC Board of Governors meeting of the new year. We welcomed our new Commodore Jackie Cambio and the slate of Flag Officers for 2025, and we presented a token of appreciation for the service of now Past Commodore Mike Weaver. The tradition of presenting a plate like this to outgoing EYC Commodores goes back decades -- also pictured is a plate presented to Past Commodore Clayton Lanphear, PC 1965.

As the sky brightened during today's annual EYC New Year's Day Sunfish Regatta, the wind also built. With 10 boats sailing, John won the day, followed by Bill in second and Zach in third
We race again this Sunday, January 5, as we resume the regular schedule of Frozen Few races in 2025. Happy New Year!

The last day of EYC 2024 Frozen Few Sunfish Frostbiting was glassy but beautiful. We only managed to get in 2 (slow) races. Zack won the day, followed by Chris C. in second and Jeff in third. See you on January 1, 2025, for our annual New Year's Day Sunfish Regatta!

In last night's EYC eSailing, Georgia (from Newport) took first, followed closely behind by her sister Greta (from Maine) in second and her father George (from Manhattan) in third. Not only is eSailing a warmer way to sail this winter than the EYC Frozen Few, you can compete from anywhere. Join us next week!
