On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 from 9am-3pm

Bring your family, bring a friend, and join us for this old-fashioned event at the Saline Creek Pioneer Village and Museum located at 1600 S. Feazel St., Harrisburg, Illinois(Not far from the Shawnee National Forest!)

-The Historical Society will offer FREE tours for all ages and volunteers will also be demonstrating historic trades such as: weaving, blacksmithing, etc.
-The Hot Spot food truck will have food for purchase
-9am-3pm we will have a FREE petting ZOO
-Vendors will have items for purchase

--Aluminum can drive; bring your empty aluminum drink cans to donate to the museum

Next up for peonies, Soft Salmon Saucer.

These are just starting! Look at that color 😍

I don't have many of these plants because I was stuck on only planting double varieties but this semi double variety makes me consider adding more!

Who am I kidding, I always want to add more of all of them!! 😂

With the warm temps this week, I will have to be on my toes watching the field!!

The Flower Barn at Shawnee Stems

We got a prom under our belt last weekend and we are gearing up for our first weddings in May!

A style shoot for some professional photos is also coming soon!!

Peony season is here and will soon be in full swing! We are also working ground to prepare for more wildflower fields and our rows of upick flowers!

🐇 Happy Easter Everyone! 🐇

The first peony has bloomed in our peony patch! A beautiful Lemon Chiffon to start the season! Harvest will be in full swing soon!

This is our earliest variety (bloom week 3) the rest will bloom over the next two-three weeks! If it stays hot it will be a very quick season, if it stays mild and cool they will last a little longer!

Flower news: Peony season isn't far away!

The field is looking pretty good so far and I'm excited for my 4 year old plants as this will be the first year for a good harvest from them!

The rest are 2 and 3 year old plants that I will get some stems from, but I am pretty conservative on those and still pinch most of the buds so the plant spends more energy growing a healthy big root!

Pinch flower bud=Big roots=More stems sooner in the future!

Disbudded side buds last week and a few stragglers this week!

Harvest isn't far away! Probably some early varieties at the end of April and by the first and second week of May the field should be looking good!!

Peonies are NOT U-pick!!
I sell them by the stem in bunches of 5. Price depends on variety (color) usually $3-$5 per stem.

If I have bunches for sale, after my commitments, I will advertise them on Facebook!

Had to open the pavilion doors on this beautiful, sunny day!

The Flower Barn's open air ceremony pavilion is a wonderful place to exchange your vows!

No need to rent a tent, worry about the rain, or compromise on aesthetics!

Inside our timber frame building, the patio, and seasonal flower fields are other gorgeous backdrops for your ceremony as well!

Can't wait to see those wooden pews in the pavilion soon!!

Morels still have stems, I'm counting it for the purpose of the page! 😂

Something I hold a passion for is mushroom hunting in the spring!
