Belated Christmas Festival post! We hope everyone is having a good and restful break so far :) On December 6 and 7 (hah) Doane Vocal Music put on our annual Christmas Festival! A sneak peak at Collegiate Chorale, Doane Choir, and Doane’s Concert Band at our combined rehearsal for our upcoming Christmas festival! Christmas Festival is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit!

Join us Saturday December 6 at 7:30 pm or Sunday December 7 at 3:00 pm and come see what our ensembles have been working on! Tickets are free but donations to Doane’s music department are highly encouraged :)

Happy Halloween from the Doane Choir! Last Thursday we had our Doane Choir Halloween Party! Congratulations to the tenors and altos for tieing for 1st place in the pumpkin carving contest, and congrats to our costume contest winners!

“Music is the bridge between Heaven and Earth.” -Dr Eph Ehly

Yesterday was a very special day for the Doane Choir! Renowned conductor, author, and Nebraska native Dr. Eph Ehly came and visited yesterday! Dr. Ehly has conducted All State Choirs in 49/50 US States (he’s coming for you, Rhode Island!)

Dr. Ehly met his late wife at Doane, and has loved this campus and this choir since then. Not only was his passion for music apparent, but even more so was his love and enthusiasm to make connections with us. There was not a dry eye in the choir room by the time our session with Dr. Ehly ended. He spoke of the power of music, the joy of making art, and of the love and community that music brings. He emphasized that music is not only for those who are naturally gifted, music is for ALL.

Dr. Ehly, thank you for your time with us! The Doane Choir will truly never forget this incredible experience.
