I'm home from Dallas and this week has been a whirlwind. 🤠
(Long post ahead)

I spent the last few days at the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) Imaging Conference in Texas. I've attended this conference, and other conferences many times before.
The goal, as a Photographer, at these conferences is to have some amazing "take aways" that you can go back and implement in your own business. It's a great opportunity to learn, grow, network, visit vendors to see new products and get inspired.

Something happened at this conference that really made me evaluate my business. I stopped by a vendor booth and met someone that told me all about their product and how it would best suit my needs without ever asking what my needs are. 🫤

I think sometimes as vendors in the wedding industry we think we know best. We tell couples what they "should do" and when during the day they "should do it." Yes, we have seen things go wrong and yes, we are just trying to help but sometimes we forget that we never asked "why?" Such as, "Why is doing (insert idea) important to you?" with a follow up of "How can I help make this happen for you?"

I always try to make my clients feel valued and do my best to execute their vision. Even after photographing 1000 weddings, I fall short and forget to ask the why's.

So my "take away" is to be better. To listen and ask questions. To understand your needs as a couple and help in every way possible to make your wedding the dream you deserve. ❤️

I can't believe it's been 6 months! I wish I could relive this day a thousand times. Getting to photograph this sweet couple, work at one of my favorite venues and work with my husband AND my best friend was a dream!

I'll be out of the office for a few days while I attend PPA Imaging USA in Grapevine, Texas. This is my 10th year attending this incredible photography conference that allows me to learn and network with some of the best photographers in the world.
Being in an environment of like minded individuals gives me a chance to grow and be inspired. I spend thousands of dollars to attend multiple photography and wedding conferences throughout each year to continually push myself to be the best version for my clients.
