We had an LA legend swing by last night during our service at . The brother Cary Earle from came by and picked up a plate. Since our first encounter at their shop, him and his family have been nothing but warm and supportive of Kreung Kitchen. They understand our journey because they started with one single hot dog stand on Venice Beach over 2 decades ago. Now is going on 20+ years at their shop on Crenshaw Ave. A staple of the community and a food destination for travelers worldwide. Their story proves that with hard work, dedication, and ex*****on anything is possible! Thank you for allowing us to feed you! 🫡✊🏽

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be a part of the FIRST Annual Cambodian Food festival in Ling Beach at . Our good friend and big brother assembled a talented group of chefs, artist, and musicians to partake in this event. We’re honored to be in the company of many people that we look up to. Saturday October 19 all the fun goes down. We’ll see you there!

Growing up in the South and being raised Southern Baptist, my folks didn’t really observe traditional Cambodian holidays and celebrations. And tbh, as an adult I haven’t much either aside from New Years in April. This year is different. Since mom’s passing late last year, I had no desire to participate in Pchum Ben which is where Khmer tradition is to honor your deceased loved ones. This year, I wanted to observe it because I have a reason to. As the monk’s chanted and splashed water on us, I got an overwhelming feeling of emotions come over me. I saw visions of my young mother smiling and laughing. Although I was confused as to what I was supposed to do, I’m so glad I came. Miss you mak!

When you’re so focused on pushing the culture forward, you don’t think about competition or who does what better. Your competition is the yesterday version of yourself. How can you and your team improve? How can you improve others around you? What kind of legacy will you leave behind? This is the most fulfilling work I’ve done! It’s hard work, but it is rewarding! I’ll let the food and service speak for itself! We don’t need to make claims over here. Plenty of room for everyone to eat at the table! 🍴🇰🇭

Thanks to all that came by yesterday and grabbed a bowl or two of this beauty! Sold us out of this item last night as well as our regular menu! Y’all are the best! Now the burning question… should we run it back again or you guys want to try another item?
We won’t be at Bar and Garden until 10/11 so that gives us a few weeks to figure it out.

What makes Cambodian cuisine different from other South East Asian cuisines. Two things, Kreung and Prahok. Maybe I’ll do a tutorial video one day soon of how to make Kreung. 🙂
