The real Party City story!

Good Bye Party City👋

17 years ago the nations largest wholesaler of party goods, “Amscam “ opened thier own “discount” party supply store, Party City. They decided to have one price for retailers and consumers selling wholesale,which meant all of the small “mom and pop party stores” couldn’t compete. Needless to say, many small businesses went out of business.
Party city thrived for several years and then they took “discount“ out of their name and jacked up prices. In 2007, I closed 2 8,000 + sq ft box stores after many hardships. Lets Party survived thanks to alot of hard work, creativity and dedication of my family.
Then came Amazon, leveled the playing field and took Party City out at their own game.
I dont like to see people lose their jobs, but this company was bad news.
They moved all their production to china in 2003, closing paper plants all over America and sent jobs to sweat shops in china. A few years past and china deregulated and they were forced to pay higher wages. So Party City closed that massive plant, moved 50 + miles away and opened a massive automated facility in china, forced anyone who wanted a job to have to travel for the few jobs left.
The rest is history . Wages caught up with them, Amazon kicked there butt. Now they are done.
