The Story of Disc Jockey Etc.

I was born to be a DJ. Seriously! There’s a picture of me (below) at age 3 sitting on the floor on Christmas morning, 1979, playing with my brand new ‘Mr. Microphone’... if THAT doesn’t prove that I was born to do this, I don’t know what does!

Hi! My name is Aaron Elya and I’m the founder of Disc Jockey Etc... your personal mobile disc jockey experience. I’ve been serving the metro Atlanta area (and beyond) since 2005, but my story starts WAY before that.

When I was a kid, all I ever dreamed of being was a radio DJ. I used to make fake radio stations with a boombox in my bedroom... and of course, I listened to radio ALL the time. The format didn’t matter... I just LOVED it. I’d call in and bother the DJ’s, request songs, and just take in as much as I could. I literally listened to more radio than I watched television!

Fast forward to 2003, and I’m in broadcasting school pursuing that dream of becoming a radio jock. After an internship for a top 40 station in Atlanta, I got my first on air job that August. I would eventually find myself working for an Atlanta rock station called 929 dave fm as a weekend and fill-in jock... living out my childhood dream... not something everyone gets to do.
