Hey, y’all! We’ve had quite the weekend (& week) in Cypress. It’s been a whirlwind (read: tornado! 🌪️) and I’ve been praying for safety and mental peace for everyone after the craziness.

I was lucky enough to salvage some foodstuffs from the ‘fridge and head out to the Hill Country with an amazing group of women to celebrate my 43rd birthday immediately after the storm. I’m 100% a planner but being able to fly by the seat of my pants has been a necessity to survive for the last few years of my life. I’ve learned to not only function amongst unpredictability but I find myself leaning into it. (If you ask me, that’s where life happens in the most beautiful ways.) At 43 years young, I know this: we can either exhaust energy fighting what we can’t control or take what we’ve got and make something of it. So much easier said than done some days - I know! I truly believe that the more we can do that, the more vibrant we become.

I couldn’t be more grateful that I had the option to still get up and go this weekend. Creating a board to gather around this weekend was just a tiny part of the weekend but it brought me so much happiness to be with women who can make the best of difficult situations. They each exemplify the fortitude and playfulness I hope to keep as I grow older. I know I sound like my parents here, but I’ve also learned that we are the company we keep and I would love to be like them.

I pray everyone has faired well despite the heat and lack of power. Like most birthdays and anniversaries, one day we will look back at May 2024 and hopefully remember how supportive we were to our neighbors and friends while working around the wrenches life throws our way.

{Though this isn’t my best work, it’s MY work, and it brings me happiness to share it with those I love. I feel so, incredibly blessed.}
