Voting will be held in two parts. Part one will run from December 1st - December 29th. During this time, you will be able to vote on which school should be selected for the opportunity to enter students into the drawing for a FREE prom dress of their choice.

After the winning school is selected on December 29th, voting will open on January 1st - January 29th for students that attend the selected school. On January 29th, one student will be selected at random. This student will be able to browse our selection of prom dresses and choose the dress they will wear to shine on the dance floor. Sharing the word about this giveaway gives you a bigger chance to win!

If you haven’t heard we have a trunk show from arriving this weekend! Sooo… what is a trunk show?

A bridal trunk show is an event hosted by a bridal boutique or designer where they showcase a curated selection of wedding dresses for a LIMITED TIME. It allows brides-to-be to view and try on a variety of gowns from a specific designer's latest collection, often before the dresses are widely available in stores. Trunk shows may also offer special discounts or incentives for purchasing during the event.

Let’s run it back this week to the ancient times, you know, 2013. Just kidding about the ancient times bit, but compared to the bridal trends of today, 2013 does seem like…well..a decade ago.

This is the time where blush tones gained popularity. High necklines and lace were everywhere. For accessories, we saw hairpieces and rose gold. Flower crowns were a must at every boho ceremony. And the gentlemen commonly wore sneakers at the alter.

For the venues, many weddings were hosted outdoors. Ombré cakes and dessert buffets found place among the sunflowers and twine.

It’s , baby!

Something I have noticed lately is that brides are giving their bridesmaids a dress code, and letting them style themselves!

Typically a color palette is being suggested or even just a general theme, usually pertaining to the fabric, like prints or material. Regardless of the dress code, the bridesmaids “match” because their dresses all cater to the decor, venue, and vibe!

Personally, I love this look. I like the personalization and freedom this gives bridesmaids. How many of us have bridesmaid dresses in our closets that we will probably never wear again? This could help solve that issue! Plus, I enjoy the organic look of everyone looking most like themselves.

I would say the biggest tips for brides who are considering doing this with their bridal party would be:

1. Set firm boundaries with what you DON’T want at your wedding.

“No dresses above the knee and nothing outside of our color palette, but the rest is up to you!”
“Only dresses with floral prints. Think ‘country’ not ‘vacation’ prints. Color is completely your choice, just remember what season the wedding is during!”

2. Approve dresses BEFORE your bridesmaids purchase them. Have your party send you their picks before they are bought. This way you all can avoid any headaches with returns if something doesn’t work out.

3. Be ready and willing to help your bridal party find dresses. Offer suggestions of shops or websites to those who are running into dead ends with their search.

It’s , baby!

While analyzing bridal trends over the past several months I’ve noticed one thing is for certain: the 80s are back!

Don’t be afraid, if you ask me, brides are REALLY pulling this off. The glamour from the past has made its way mainstream and I am totally here for it.

Most prominently we are seeing big sleeves and bow details (on dresses, as accessories, and around as decor) - but ice sculptures, champagne towers, tiered cakes, ruffles, satin, and SO MUCH MORE can be found making way into weddings around the world.

Here at Freebird we have a couple of options for this trend you might fancy. It’s all in the details: big sleeves on a modern dress or a little bow on something timeless. Pointed toe shoes. Pearls. Satin. Oh my!

Maybe Mom was right when she said her dress would come back in style…

It’s crazy how trends change our perception of the world, and with social media serving us in the capacity it does, trends are cycling faster than ever.

A few years ago these looks would’ve had most of us asking “really?”, and some of us may still be. Regardless, your wedding is a celebration of you - let it reflect your style and stay true to yourself, not trends.
