Since we have moved the majority of our events to 2021, our main focus is currently on - our sister brand that offers micro weddings. We are hosting an event at on October 4th and have two time slots left - both perfect if you have been dreaming of a brunch wedding. Micro weddings are perfect for couples who still want a luxurious experience, but at a lower price point, couples who have been displaced by Covid and want to marry now and party later, and couples who have always wanted something smaller but didn’t know how to make that happen. Small wedding, sensational altar! Every event will have an insane altar installation that will rival any that we have produced for our full-scale weddings. Having a smaller wedding does not mean you have to sacrifice good design, especially when it comes to the most important element - the ceremony.

and I were immediately drawn to this big gorgeous tree overlooking the vineyards and ocean at when scouting this location. We knew it would be the perfect backdrop for this 40 guest fete.

Having a small wedding does not mean you have to have a micro-sized cake. To us, the cake is not just to eat, it’s also part of the decor! This beauty from was a design focal point at Audrey and Erich’s 36 guest wedding. Every event will feature a gorgeous display cake designed by one of our bakery partners. All this week I am showcasing some of the smaller real weddings we have done over the years to toast our newest venture . Amanda and Daryl’s “mini” wedding in Rancho Palos Verdes was definitely a highlight for us! A mini wedding is a wedding with less than 50 guests that still has all of the elements of a traditional wedding, just on a smaller scale. We’ll still continue to produce mini weddings with all of these elements - ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing - everything you would have with a larger wedding. Continuing with our week-long launch of we are throwing it back to 2015 and my very first wedding with and ! Hanna and Nick had the tiniest wedding we have done to date with only 4 guests. They were married in the garden at Aldredge House followed by dinner in the sunroom overlooking the backyard of the estate. And of course, there was cake!

In celebration of launching last week, Im going to highlight some of the weddings we have done with smaller guest counts over the years. Birds of a Feather will continue to produce fabulous smaller weddings. Weddings with custom, high touch elements, 5 course dinners, dancing - a day all to yourself. Featured above is Gina & Ryan’s intimate dinner table for 32 guests. They enjoyed a coursed dinner at sunset on this screened-in porch overlooking the May River on the most perfect spring evening in the low country. This tablescape remains one of my all time favorites.

OK guys, start of a new year, what do y’all want to see more of in 2020 from us? Less of? Sometimes I feel like we are just trying to make the grid pretty, I try to keep things real in the comments and stories, but is that enough? After 10 years in business is it time to make the grid a little bit more gritty, or stick with the pretty? Also, do I need Tik Tok for the youths? I keep getting older, but my clients keep staying the same age. Alright, alright, alright. (Only old people will get that).

I styled these pieces of cake from and before could shoot them the wedding party found them on the ground where I styled them next to a window and ate them. If this story sounds relatable and like something you or your wedding party would do, I might just be the wedding planner for you. Call me. Actually, no, email me, email is better. Got home from Chicago around 2am, and now Im back at the airport headed to Minneapolis to style details for .events this weekend. 2019 came for me, but I weathered the storm and in the end the good outweighed the bad. Lots of fun trips this year, some that saved my sanity and took me away from my “challenging” home remodel. These are just a few highlights from the year. The moral of the story is this - my hair loves Colorado, but hates Mexico. (See last 2 pics for proof of Mexico’s wrath on my wig. Like, why Mexico? I kept telling myself I was going to post other photos before the year was up so I was going to hang onto this until the new year. I’m lying to myself. Obviously. Not going to post anything before the new year. So, here it is, my top nine of 2019! This was definitely a year where I cut back on posting to Instagram. I’m going to try to change that up in 2020 and post more regularly, which means some mega lame captions for you guys because seriously, who has the time? Cheers to many nonsensical/insane ramblings in the form of captions in 2020! Huzzah!
