Bringing people together through the sharing of music, food, and service to others. The mission of Encore Park is to gather people in downtown Dallas to make connections among neighbors and communities, between the past and future: by integrating service with art and music. Right now, we're awaiting the start of construction to renovate the space, preserving and respecting the history of the build

ing - the location where Blues legend Robert Johnson recorded his music. Stay tuned for updates as we explore the history of and the vision for the future of Encore Park Dallas at 508 Park in downtown Dallas.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING. We hope these renderings are giving you a good sense of what’s to come and what possibilities there will be to bring people together in the heart of Dallas! Support Encore Park at the link in bio (northtexasgivingday.org/encore-park-dallas) .

Imagine being able to record in the same spot as Robert Johnson, Bob Wills, The Light Crust Doughboys, and Lolo Cavazosas.

As we shared in our last email, the third floor recording studio at 508 Park Ave. in Encore Park will feature a control room, two live rooms, and an isolation booth.Seen through the windows below is the Historic Live Room.

The Historic Live Room, situated at the exact location where many famous artists crafted their recordings for Brunswick Records, will inspire modern artists with the look and feel of the historic space while offering state-of-the-art recording facilities.

There’s still plenty of time to give in support of this amazing project!

JUST 9 HOURS LEFT TO MEET OUR NTX GIVING DAY GOAL! Head to the link in bio (northtexasgivingday.org/encore-park-dallas) to make your donation.

We’re excited to share with you the first of two renderings of the recording studio to be located on the third floor of 508 Park Ave. at Encore Park where Robert Johnson and other American music legends recorded.

Below you can see the control room which will sit between two live rooms. These state-of-the-art facilities will not only pay homage to the recording techniques of the past but also empower today’s artists and performers to create new works of art.

The studio visible on the other side of the window is Beaver Board Room. Built using similar materials to those used to isolate the sound of historic 508 Park recordings, it provides a more controlled environment for modern recording techniques.

There will also be an isolation booth and Historic Live Room—we’ll reveal a rendering of the latter next.

Thank you for your support!

From all of us at Encore Park Dallas, thank you for believing in this project. 3 Hours Left to reach our $15,000 goal! The $5,000 MATCH doubles your gift! If you haven't already (or if you have😃) support Encore Park Dallas by making a donation at northtexasgivingday.org/encore-park-dallas (or visit link in bio).

Around the exterior wall to the amphitheater you'll find bronze panels depicting "iconic and lesser-known" stories in Dallas history. These were created by Brad Oldham Sculpture and based on a lost mural from the 1930s. It's a history of perseverance and community and a fitting part of the Encore Park project.

Remember that time when Cam Cole, who you might recognize from ,was in town and played a free concert in the Encore Park Amphitheater for The Stewpot clients and anyone around? People came off the streets and out of buildings to share in good music together. To create opportunities like that is part of our mission.

Thank you for all of your support and your generosity. There's a little over 5 hours left. If you haven't done so yet you can make your donations at northtexasgivingday.org/encore-park-dallas.

Up until this point we've looked at the historic 508 Park building and why it needs to be preservced, but Encore Park isn't just about preserving history. Our vision is for it to be a social impact campus that brings people together. What better way to illustrate that than opening up our amphitheater doors and partnering with people to offer free concerts. In Spring 2021 we teamed up with Mule Kick Productions , NOCONA , The HawtThorns and Desert Hollow for a free concert.

508 Sessions (Premier): Sam Burchfield performs “Howl” at Encore Park.

508 Park Ave in downtown Dallas is the historic site where Robert Johnson, Bob Wills, Black Boy Shine, The Light Crust Doughboys, and others recorded music in a makeshift studio room on the 3rd floor in the 1930s and 40s. Robert Johnson is considered one of the most influential guitarists of all time, inspiring artists Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, Peter Green, and Jack White, to name a few.

508 Sessions is a new project produced by Encore Park, Light-Wells , Sam Allen, and Tim Smith Photography.

Did You Know? Encore Park’s 508 Park Ave in downtown Dallas was the location where blues legend Robert Johnson recorded more than half of his music? His music went on to inspire generations of musicians like Eric Clapton. Clapton and Doyle Bramhall II visited 508 Park in 2004 and recorded songs in recognition of Johnson.

Construction for 508 Park, now a part of Encore Park, began just months before the Stock Market crash in 1929 as the Warner Brothers Building. 🎥 It served as a film and sound track distribution site. But later it would become an iconic location for makeshift recording sessions for musicians like blues legend Robert Johnson, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Lolo Cavazos, and many others. 🎶

🇺🇸You have the opportunity to preserve a piece of downtown Dallas history and American music history while supporting our effort to bring people together through art, music, and service to others.
