Today, I did a thing, and I went to see the wonderful humans of The Blade Bar aaaaaaaaall the way in Edom, TX. IYKYK, I loathe driving - but this drive, despite it being SO LONG, was so worth it!

The owner of The Blade Bar, Johnathan Sibley, is the wonderful human who told a customer who asked to relocate a n**i emblem on her knife to another knife:

“Nope. No N**i bu****it. If you wanted a modern German forestry seal of something, I will de-N**ify s**t, but I won’t re-N**ify s**t.”

I immediately reached out, connected with Rhiannon, and arranged the photoshoot. Social media is a love/hate relationship on my end. But if it wasn’t for social media, my path would have never crossed with Rhiannon and Johnathan - and I’m grateful the algorithms brought us together.

Thank you, Rhiannon, for arranging today; thank you, Johnathan, for putting up with my ideas and letting me get in your face while you were trying to get work done (lol!); thank you, Dalton and Tavia, for hanging in there for the few photos and not give me a hard time as most teens would do - and THANK ALL OF YOU for opening your life to me. Additional special thanks to Dalton for being my mini assistant and helping me fog up the workshop! :)

PS: And another thank you for my steel heart keychain I got to hammer a few times on the forge!

Caitlyn & Yosef’s wedding day was a dream! We started with their heartfelt ceremony at Christ the King Catholic Church, captured golden-hour magic at Flippen Park, stopped by their favorite bar, Harwood Arms, for a celebratory drink 🍻, and wrapped up the night with an epic reception at the Perot Museum. 🎉

From the sweet glances they exchanged to the dance floor energy, every moment was filled with love and joy. 💕 These two remind me why I still adore photographing weddings after almost two decades.

✨ Sneak Peek Time! ✨

Caitlyn & Yosef’s wedding day was nothing short of incredible. We started the day with a beautiful ceremony at Christ the King Catholic Church, took a quick detour to Flippen Park for some dreamy portraits, stopped by their favorite bar, Harwood Arms, for a celebratory toast 🍻, and ended the night dancing under the stars (and science exhibits!) at the Perot Museum. 🤩

Every detail was flawless, but what truly made the day unforgettable was them. Caitlyn & Yosef, you (and all my couples I've been working with!) are why my heart is still so full after nearly two decades of capturing weddings. 💕✨

Picture this: A cozy carriage ride through Uptown Dallas, a sneaky (totally “legit”) photographer cough, me! tagging along for “promotional photos,” and a boyfriend-turned-fiancé popping the BIG question at just the right moment! Lucy had her suspicions at first (I mean, who wouldn’t when a camera-wielding stranger tags along?), but after chatting up the horse and driver like my new besties, I had her convinced. !

When Josh dropped to one knee, Lucy’s shock turned into happy tears. I’m basically still tearing up just thinking about it!

Today marks 10 YEARS since I moved to Dallas! 🥳

The biggest business risk I took was when I decided to move across the world and start a new life here in Texas - with no clientele, network, family, friends - no NOTHING.

Sometimes, we must choose to play it safe or risk it.

I choose to get out of my comfort zone.

I decided to take the risk because I wanted to and desperately needed to break out of my mold. It wasn't always easy. There were times within the first two years I questioned if I had done the right thing or not - and I felt really defeated, but I was determined to make it happen.

So what happened after that? I sold all my personal belongings within less than nine months, packed two suitcases of my clothes, and my cat, Nyx - got on the Lufthansa flight on December 17, 2014, and never looked back!

And you know what? I'm so darn happy I did it. I have met so many amazing humans since moving here - creating a little happy world of my own and sharing all the love and joy human connection has to offer...

Well, a few things happened after I moved to Dallas, TX.

The first few years were very rocky for my business. Back in Turkiye I had a giant friend group that were my biggest cheerleaders, and I never had to learn marketing. So I had to learn how to market and run my business all over again! I also had some time to adjust to my new life, new friends, and new environment...

And you know what? Today I have my dream studio, I have my furkids by my side, I have amazing friendships that I like to call my "fRamily" and I would not change a thing in my little life. *insert the "I love this little life" song here*

The reason I'm sharing this with you today is that I want you to know that big dreams take a lot of work and often require us to push ourselves past our comfort zone.

I mean it when I tell you this couple is nothing short of a dream to work with! 😍 Their love, energy, and connection radiate through every single frame—and we had the best time during their session last Sunday. These two got married last October, and although their wedding day wasn’t photographed due to a tough health challenge I faced, I still had the privilege of editing and delivering their wedding gallery, ensuring everything felt true to my style and quality. 💫

Lauren and Carl were so understanding and kind throughout everything. Even though my amazing associates stepped in and captured their day beautifully (seriously, I only work with the best 🙌), I still wanted to do something special for them—because couples like these deserve all the extra love. 🖤

I recently had the privilege of working with Katie Condon, an award-winning poet and the author of Praying Naked, to create a series of portraits that embody her unique voice and vision. These images will represent Katie’s identity as a poet on her website, social media, and other platforms where her work connects with the world.

📖 Who Is Katie?
Katie’s poetry has graced the pages of The New Yorker, Ploughshares, and American Poetry Review, and she’s the recipient of the Charles B. Wheeler Poetry Prize. She’s also an assistant professor of English at Southern Methodist University, inspiring the next generation of writers. Her work delves into themes of intimacy, spirituality, and the human experience, making her a true force in contemporary poetry.

💍✨ When Taryn booked a mini-session with me to capture some sweet memories with her boyfriend, Zach, little did she know there was a big surprise in store! Zach had secretly reached out to me beforehand, letting me know he had “the ring” and was planning to pop the question! 😍💕

We plotted the perfect moment: once we found “the spot,” I gave Zach the signal to “check his shoes.” But Zach added his own little twist, pointing Taryn to “look at something” by the lake. After a bit of playful confusion (“Wait, what am I looking for?!” 😂), he finally took a knee and asked her to be his forever. And of course, she said YES! 🥂💍💖

🎃👻 Happy Halloween! 👻🎃 Calling all ghouls, goblins, and lovers of the mysterious! Before weddings swept me off my feet, I was deep in the eerie and intense world of metal bands and horror-inspired shoots with local artists, think scenes dripping in Ben Nye stage blood. My happy place? All things macabre—sharp edges, shadows, and unsettling vibes.

Then one day, a friend asked if I'd photograph her brother's wedding. I thought, "She must've hit her head!" 😅 I tried convincing her to find someone else, but she loved my personality and wanted something a bit… unconventional. I finally caved, and that wedding led me into a 17-year adventure that's still going strong. And no - I will not show you those photos. They are nothing like what I deliver today.

Now, my days are filled with joyous "I dos," but I haven’t forgotten my roots. If you're craving something outside the ordinary—think shadows, mystery, and all the spooky vibes—let’s make it happen! 💀✨
