I cannot over sell seeing the solar eclipse enough...if you have the chance to see on April 8th. Go see it. The world around you will change, the sky goes black in the middle of the day with a 360' Degree Sunset. The Reds and greens start to change colors and you'll see shadows running across the ground. Animals of the night start to wake up. It's absolutely visceral and I'm willing to bet you'll never experience anything like it ever again.
Skip work, play hookie, you NEED to see this. I captured this in 2017 in Tennessee with Kimmie and we're still in awe and can't wait to see it again.

Did you know I love dramatic photos? Second shooting for , we were wrapping up the exit when I saw the symmetry and lines as we were all about to leave. So we asked the couple if they would like one final photo and they agreed! That's why you see the doors in the back open, people were cleaning up behind them 😂
Quickly we grabbed the couple, pushed our little cart of equipment out of the way, moved the car into position, hid all of their stuff behind the Camaro, grabbed my trusty and deployed them with reflectors with grids and we got this epic photo of them I put my Nikon to my eye and snap!
Sometimes the best photos are serendipitous and thankfully the gear I had has always allowed me to get the shot as quickly as I can.
So messages me for my address and I think? "What for?"
Little did I know I was going to get this incredible gift from them for Lunar New Years! How frikkin' awesome!
I think it's a testament to the vendors that I work with that we end up building a personal relationship because if the team is working well, our couples will be getting the best experience.
And I can tell you that working with makes my day easy breezy and allows me to just focus on the important parts of what I do best: capturing your wedding day. I can't tell you how many times on a hectic day that I mutter "Aww, I really wish Angel and Oanh from Love and Sparrows were here!"

Second shootin' this weekend with In the Tree. One of my favorite photos I took that day.
Trusty Cheetah Stand C12s with Godox AD200s and C**t 45 Degree Reflectors gridded added the light I needed to really show off that silver on the Rolls Royce.
Set this up in 3 mins before their exit!
Sometimes a good photo is just seeing what happens with the light at the end of the tunnel. And if the light isn't there, you make your own light!

I actually did a similar picture back in 2016 for Darlene & Eric's wedding - but as an artist you're never fully satisfied by the outcome. I loved the picture then but always thought to myself I could make it a little better, minor tweaks in composition, lighting, tuning... For me, my photography is based in the ability to be true about yourself - to keep pushing for marginal gains. I've never been naturally gifted, my talent comes from hard work, passion and self-critique. I constantly strive for improvement to make the photo just a little better.
Someone once asked me "what my favorite picture is that I've taken thus far" and the response is always the same "the next one I'm about to take..."
I don't think bubble exits gets enough love. So here's a capture from Mel & Emil's wedding this past weekend.
Plus, way less chances of the hair spray catching on fire with bubbles!
I guess most of us are stuck inside in Dallas being it's Snowmeggeden 2.0. Luckily this year, it doesn't seem all so bad thus far but if you thought you were cold, here's an image from my last engagement session in the snow...it was -16F that night in the mountains. P & T were huge troopers for standing outside under the stars to take this photo!

Good afternoon, I'm back after a hiatus. The truth is, I used to be on IG and Facebook a lot more because I thought I needed it to grow my business but to also validate myself as a photographer. Here's the thing, creatives are finicky folks, we need to feel validated...but as time carried on, I cared less and less about validation. I became happier and more confident in my photography. I realized that I'm happiest when I'm showing my couples their wedding day and they're just totally bonkers about it, remembering and reminiscing over their wedding day and telling me the story about their uncles and Dad's and Mom's...that's what makes me happiest and fulfills me the most. Validations through likes does not fuel me. Capturing forever moments does and reliving the moments with my couples do.
Anyways, I guess what I'm saying is I'll get back to posting...begrudgingly, lol. I love all my couples that I've worked with and I am so lucky to have the best wedding day couples ever...like seriously, we click and get along SO WELL! How does that ever happen!? I dunno. Lucky for sure! And I don't ever want ya'll to think that I don't care bc I didn't post your wedding on here. I don't post because I know I put down 110% on your wedding day and the proof is in the picture.
Anyways, here's one of my favorite photos from Ashley and India's wedding. Is it artistic? Sure. Is it SUPER FINE ART artistic? No. Did I create those images through the day that? Hell yeah! But this family embrace and feel is my favorite by far.

Epic engagement photos! Mimi & Kevin's session was an absolute blast this past Sunday. She wanted a high-fashion and Vogue and we definitely delivered!
Side note - I know the reflection shot is probably going to be most everyone's favorite, but my favorite is going to be the one on the steps...that depends on everything you need to put together correctly as a young photographer. Leading lines, using shadows, depth, understanding composition and using patience as the sun moves properly into just the right spot as well as posing (Well, Mimi did an amazing job for me there 😉 Young Photographer David can give Old Photographer David a pat on the back for that image!
The reflection shot was a mixed bag too - security stopped us and forced me to put down most of my lights...I had to persuade them to allow us 1 shots and to let me use just 1 light... Super glad I pulled that off, Sophia understood exactly what I needed for lighting. Rad!
